Needed someplace that could smog my 1981 Fiat. My regular place couldn't help me as the oldest cars they smog are 1994. Stopped in yesterday and Katelyn told me she was busy and booked but could see me this morning at 0900. She gave me the price and told me what was included, what I would need, and what to expect. I needed to use the bathroom and she allowed me to do that even though I wasn't yet a customer. I arrived at 9 and she was ready to go. Professional and punctual. She asked me to fill out some paperwork and that the smog would take about 30 minutes. There are some chairs outside as well as chairs and table inside. Also a hefty pile of magazines (pre-2022) if you are sick of scrolling on your phone. The waiting area is about what you would expect - not fancy at all. Plastic fold up chairs. Serviceable. She finished in about 22 minutes. I was out of there in 30. Solid service. She isn't overly effusive or expressive but do you really need that from your smog mechanic? read more

I never thought I'd write a review for a Smog Testing Center, but I was so impressed with my experience here that I HAD to! Firstly, I like that this establishment is family owned and operated. So my experience here was very personalized and made me feel welcomed and valued (I wasn't just a number). I was in a pinch and had my registration deadline the following day. I was able to call ahead of time to make an appointment with a 30 minute notice, take 15 minutes to drive to their shop, get served in 6 minutes and only waited about 16 minutes for my smog test to complete. I was in and out with the littlest of effort and time consumed!! The only true negative here is that they have a very small and cramped waiting area. It can really only fit one customer comfortably. There were various magazines to read and plenty of informative canine photos to sift through though. I guess it's not a priority because the service is so fast here ;) Truly awesome experience and service!! I highly recommend Morena Smog if you're in the area. read more

I called 2 days in advance and made an appointment. I had a bunch of questions and Kaitlin was patient and kind enough to answer all of them. I have an older Honda Civic and the check engine light has been on for a while. My registration was due in May and I paid it, but couldn't get the stickers because I couldn't pass smog. Kaitlin helped me expedite my appointment. I have a few smog legal aftermarket parts and she took down the numbers to check them in advance (then just check against the car at my appointment). I was at UHaul renting a trailer and realized I didn't have the right wiring harness. Carlos there recommended I talk to Han at Morena Smog and see if he had time to install the right one for me. I went over on a Saturday, the shop was super busy, but Han came right out and checked out my truck. He was so friendly and knowledgeable he knew exactly what I needed and gave me all the info to be able to do it myself, it was a super simple thing I just needed a part from Napa down the street. Allowed me to come in last-minute on a Saturday for an oil change. Didn't have exactly the oil recommended for my '05 Mercedes but suggested I just go buy some and they'd do it for $30 labor. I had already purchased the oil, filter and drain plug gasket, so just went home and brought it back with me. In the meantime they became a little busy but still had me out of there within about 1/2 hour, and topped off my other fluids. I was buying a 78 El Camino from this guy who is selling it for a friend type situation. While I don't get the feeling that the guy selling it is shady I still felt it necessary to spend the cash to make sure it can pass smog before I shell out the cash for it. This guy literally has a CA smog check station 4 blocks from his house. They turned me away because the car was too old and their equipment can't handle it. He did send me to another station who could do it. So I head up the hill to another place...When I get there, they turn me away for the same reason. I asked for a place to go and he sent me a couple of miles back down the hill. When I get there I had already spent 30 minutes driving this totally awesome El Camino...It was fun but I was ready for all the hassle to stop. When I get there I ask the guy "Can you smog check a 78 El Camino?" His response..."Yes, but we close in 15 minutes so..." he can't even start it. I offered him a $20 tip for his time and he told me no "There are cameras everywhere..." I seriously had no idea that smog checking a car that is older was this troublesome. Luckily the 3rd guy sent me to Morena Smog. These cats were great. The started the smog test 10 minutes before closing. After about 15 minutes she comes over and asks if I know about the non-California certified catalytic converter. Not a cheap repair...luckily it was the only repair needed as everything else passed. Thank you for saving me a ton of money on this El Camino! It would have sucked to buy it and then have to pay for a replacement catalytic converter. Now I get an even better deal on a sweet 78 El Camino! read more
