Libertango is a boutique-style restaurant in a less-crowded portion of Campos do Jordão, where both you and your food get personalized attention. The wine list has a wide variety of wines, including options that are more affordable but still very high quality. Don't skip the dessert, which is also fantastic. Very important: be sure to make a reservation, especially when the town is full of tourists. Overall, the place is quite pricey, but you get plenty of bang for your buck. I could actually consider driving a couple of hours just to go to Libertango.

When we got our bill, it had a handwritten line at the bottom adding over $R20 to our total. When asked what it's for the server stated it is for his service and for the musical entertainment. Now I am American so I am very used to tipping, and usually tip much more than this anyways, and was planning on leaving more than they'd asked for. But it felt very bold to handwrite it on my bill. It really felt like they were taking advantage of me because I am not Brazilian and couldn't argue back in their language. If this is a standard expectation that they add gratuity and payment for live music then it should A) be noted on the menu and B) be a printed item on the check, not a handwritten scribble. Campos do Jordão has so much to offer, but I can't recommend this restaurant because of how rude they were for the bill.

I was not able to finish an entire pastel, but rather had to split one with a friend, which goes to show how large the portions are. You can try various fillings and combinations to get creative. There are many offered on the menu, so browse until you feel content that you've made the right decision.
