I drove a '57 Chrysler that needed a generator. I was told Mel was the guy to see, so I drove out to Fertile. He sold me a generator, and also suggested I replace the older generator/regulator combo with a modern alternator, and sold me one that he said would work with my car.
When I got home to my mechanic, I found out the generator he sold me was faulty, and couldn't be used unless I had it rebuilt. I already had a faulty generator in my car, so no point in buying one. Okay, I said, let's just put in an alternator. He said he could do that, but not the one Mel sold me because it was the wrong one for my car.
He sold me a broken generator and the wrong alternator.
He does get one extra star for being a nice guy, and because he had tons of old Mopar cars piled up on his property, and that was fun to see. read more
