This place has great cheap drinks, but after a certain time, the bouncers adopt a very sexist policy. I had a male friend ask the bouncers for water after being there for a total of 20 minutes. They told him he had to drink the water outside and he never left their view. As soon as he was finished, he queued to come back inside and they refused to let him in. They proceeded to let in a group of girls that were doing the same exact thing; coming down to get water and get a quick breather from the stuffy club atmosphere. Long story short, even if the club is empty, the goons outside won't let any anymore guys in if there are too many already inside. The advantage of clubs in Australia, is that they don't close strictly at 2am. Unlike in the US, last call at 1:30 am and everyone has to GTFO at 15 till... This building is a two level bar but the music in the rooms are identical. If you are from Amedika like myself, (southern Cali-foh-nia to be exact), Mooseheads possesses more like a bar than a club feel plus the dance floor. "Moose's" is where you end up if you fail to find birds at better bars. It is full of UNI - kids and if you have any game at all you'll go home with one. Be on the look out for "drink-whores" though. They are obvious to the pro but otherwise you might end up buying drinks for no reason. It'll go similar to Fortunato D.s conversation (4/23/12) There will be one or two of these OZ-Uni-buy-me-drink-girls there any big night. Big nights will include, Top-40 POP, dancing, throwing glasses into the crowd, puke on the floor in the restrooms, sticky floors, and general crowd nonsense. If you stick it out on nights like this you'll do alright. I prefer going there on light to moderate nights. There is more room to move about, easier to talk or dance, and you won't want to smash some kids face for tossing his glass when he's done with the shot. read more

After having watched the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer in it's entirety more than twice, I feel as if I am well educated in the subject of "Hell Mouths" and I am quite confident in stating that Mooseheads sits squarely on top of the entrance to hell. On a Thursday night in Canberra City one could easily be forgiven for thinking they had stumbled upon the beginnings of the zombie apocalypse. The streets are strewn with drunken uni students with the median age of 18 and they're all either heading to or coming from Mooseheads, the only late late night establishment in Canberra it seems. What other choice to we have? We came out to drink and no matter how horrendous the establishment, we were going to drink. From the sticky floor to the dry humping Mooseheads is everything you'd expect from a bar named Mooseheads. The staff tried, they did, going around with a mop every 20 minutes, mopping my feet every time as if I were solely responsible for the state of the floor. If the drinks were as cheap as people claimed this could all be forgiven, but $6 for nasty house wine isn't worth the trade off. If you are above the age of 21, Mooseheads probably isn't going to be your first choice, but you know what, when it's the last choice you make your own fun and you own that dance floor. I hate this nightclub. The line to get in is ridiculous, the cover charge is huge, the drinks are expensive and your feet stick to floor because of all the spilled drinks. There are also so many fights in this club that the police sit on the corner outside and wait for it to spill on the street so that they can break it up. There are much cheaper, less crowded and less scary nightclubs in Canberra. Try Meche or Uni Pub instead. read more
