This is a pretty, quiet, and spacious campground. Each campground has a lot of space to set up multiple tents (however, most people had only 1, we had 2). There is a picnic table set and a fire pit. Fire pit is double ring with tall wall. I had never seen that high quality pit. For example, the grill handle doesn't get hot even with big fire. So after cooking I was able to put it outside easily. Camp host is super friendly and he explained where the trail is and where the great view point was (which is not the summit, can't tell from the map). One word: rustic. This campground is super remote and is located in the northeast corridor of the Green Mountain National Forest. The place provides a quiet, deep woods experience but still has some features that less rugged people might appreciate such as water pumps and toilets. The national forest folks really do a nice job at keeping this place clean and "as nature intended." All of the campsite clearings appear to have been done with care and have a low impact on the natural surroundings. The location of Moosalamoo Campground provides excellent hiking opportunities down to the AT or over to Lake Champlain if you're feeling ambitious. We showed up on a Friday afternoon and were impressed by how deep into the woods this campground was. It's located well outside of any major town and required a few miles of travel down a dirt road. You'll know you're getting close when you see the bear crossing signs. There are 19 sites on the campground and I think only 3 of the 19 were occupied all weekend so it was very quiet. This is a place that I would definitely consider coming back to. If you're ever here make sure you check out campsite 12! It's located much further out into the woods than the other sites so you can run around naked and nobody will see you! read more

Where to I begin? We were seeking a rustic and quiet camp experience. After much research and correspondence with an amazing park ranger, we chose Moosalamoo. What a find. There are 19 sites. There is a hand pump for water that is suitable for drinking. The vault toilets were immaculate and smelled fine. We had an amazing camp site that was groomed and well appointed with a huge fire ring, a neat cleared tent spot in the woods and a big picnic table. This is nature at its best. We hiked the trail behind the campground to Falls of Lana. There are many other trails. Tips: bring your own firewood (from VT) and have change as it's an honor system for payment (10.00 a night). No reservations, first come, first served. Be warned, it's very quiet and very dark at night. The only sound you will hear are the critters howling at the moon. We did notice we were under the evening flight path of occasional jets. It did not impact our stay at all. read more
