Oh No Kou Swel, La Phat Thok, and Stuffed Tofu.
Regina R.

This food is amazing! Never had Burmese food before, but I am half Thai and thought the food can't be too different, plus I'm plant based so we were looking for vegan friendly restaurants. This spot is it!!! We had the Oh No Kou Swel, La Phat Thok, and Stuffed Tofu. Of the three dishes, La Phat Thok was my favorite! I love the crunchy beans and peas and citrus dressing. Mmmm! Would definitely come here again!

Stopped by for a late lunch after checking in Hildene. Between the chicken Burma bowl or the chicken coconut noodle soup definitely go with the latter. It's much more flavorful and satisfying. The chicken bowl is a too dry and needs more sauce to balance that out. I read the reviews and the bowl didn't live up to the expectations. There really isn't anything but chicken and rice - not filling. You'd just be full off of carbs. But that coconut chicken noodle soup is the way to go!

This was my first time trying Burmese food and it did not disappoint! I tried the Burmese Wontons and the Coconut Chicken Noodle soup. Wow! The portions were generous, and everything tasted so good. The noodle soup was very flavorful, with the perfect amount of spice. The wontons were fresh and paired well with the tamarind sauce. I left there full land content. Support small business!

Book about Burma with recipes and anecdotes. Good read.

Really good food! Workers were friendly and I liked the large mural on the walls. I got the moh hinga (fish stew) which was fantastic. Not that fishy, very fresh and yummy. I got it spicy and it was the perfect level of spice that built up over time. Highly recommend!!

We always look for new places and ethnic foods that we haven't tried. Moonwink was just the spot for us to try Burmese cuisine. We got the Burmese wontons and then the Coconut Chicken and noodle bowl. Everything had great flavor and they were good portions. The owners wife is from Burma and they both do a great job in representing the food from the region. Give it a try....

Stopped in after a morning of shopping and was ready to eat. Didn't know what to expect since I've never had Burmese food before and what a great intro. Hands down the best curry chicken broth. It was served with a wedge of lime and pepper flakes. Pepper flakes are hot and ask for it on the side because you will feel it. Also had the fried dumplings and the dipping sauce was so yummy! So many different combination of flavors going on and hitting all my taste buds. Best food I've had in VT. I'm so sad that this place is so far away but will be back anytime I am in the area. Definitely a must try, you will not be disappointed!

Tiny little spot that's only open 11:30-5pm on Tuesday - Friday. It is DELICIOUS!! Do not miss this place if you are in town. We strategically planned a light breakfast so we could eat here for lunch. We got the fish stew and veggie coconut noodle bowl. I can't recommend this place enough, it put a smile on my very picky family's faces!!

Really good food, quick service (we got our food in less than 5 minutes), and casual vibes. Try Burmese food if you haven't!

Food was excellent - very authentic and reminded me of homemade food. I got the bowl with chicken and tofu. Service was also very friendly.

This is a wonderful restaurant, and it's very much appreciated as one of two restaurants offering Asian dishes.

Burma? I've never been, but if the food is as good as they make it at this restaurant I am down.

SHWE Burmese Restaurant - Tea Leaf Salad/Lat Phat Thoat - Crispy pea, peanut, sesame seed, garlic oil, ground pickle tea leaf, cabbage, & tomato

SHWE Burmese Restaurant

I walked into SHWE Burmese Restaurant at 11:05 am, just after opening. I was the only one there…read more The room was calm and unhurried, the faint aroma of hot tea rising through the quiet like a welcome ritual before the day began. Then came the pineapple fried rice with pork belly. Savory, caramelized pork belly met bright bursts of pineapple in a perfect sweet-salt balance. Fluffy rice studded with peas, carrots, and ribbons of egg. My three year old son dove in without hesitation, happily scooping forkfuls of rice and pineapple like he had discovered treasure. No negotiations. Just joy. Fifteen minutes later, box in hand, the real event began. Across melting ice. A sharp jaywalk. A cut through the gas station. A full sprint toward the train station as the gates threatened to close and my family waited. It was an unofficial, record-breaking mile fueled entirely by fried rice ambition. Once the cold air finally left my lungs, I cracked open the box. Steam rose into the winter air. The smell alone was victory. I ate every last grain on that train, a triumphant feast earned the hard way. My wife was not impressed with how close I cut it. I, however, stand by the decision. Some meals are worth the sprint.

Shwe Burmese is a small (about five tables) family-run restaurant which serves Burmese food and…read moresushi. The Burmese dishes I tried were very good. A tea leaf salad or Lat phat thoat has "Crispy pea, peanut, sesame seed and garlic oil with ground pickle tea leaf, cabbage and tomato." It was a little funky, a bit like kimchi, with a wonderful textural crunch provided by the peanuts. Palata (deep fried layered & flattened dough), commonly served at street food stalls, is reminiscent of scallion pancakes (without the scallion). In this case, it was served with a chicken, potato, and dahl stew. The saltiness of the stew was tamed by the layered and fatty dough. I might skip the chicken dumplings because those were boiled from frozen, store bought items. The pandan dessert, similar to a bubble tea, was an added extra. I'd definitely go again.
