The owner (old Bag) was rude and dismissive. I came to northern Wisconsin, and my Son is an extremely talented photographer with over 100 thousand followers. All he wanted to do was show her some of his work for a possible spot on commission. She treated us like we did not matter. Not even to possibly look and say maybe in the future or do you have a website etc. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.. it was one of the worst encounters I have ever had. She acted like she was better than us... ( definitely not!!!) I will be passing the word to everyone I know. I hope she feels good about herself... read more

This is my favorite art gallery in Wisconsin. I love checking out local art shops and find this one has a wide variety of local artists. My husband's family has a cabin up north, and whenever we have friends come, I take them here. I have never heard a complaint! I have bought many pieces at Moondeer - jewelry, carved bowls, framed art, mittens, and the list goes on. I love knowing that I am helping a local artist. The owner is a delight too. Deceptively small on the outside; massively enchanting on the inside - that is, if you are at all into art, painting, drawing, stained glass, or photography. Moondeer is the spot in town to find special oils, watercolors, lithographs, and tile work to spruce up your cabin, house, or even your tent. Artists in the area bring their work in on consignment. I found you can also contact some if you want to broker a piece on your own. 2 floors to browse through: take your time, is my suggestion; but be sure to stop and watch some of the hands on demos. Usually 2 or 3 artists create on the spot for you, and it's really cool to watch (for those of us less than functional with colored chalk and paint). It's a place to be jealous in. We thought Moondeer was great. It really needs a 2nd or even 3rd look to really appreciate all it has to offer. read more

I love this place. I went for the first the first time last summer because I was staying nearby and was doing the general walkabout in downtown BJ. Such a fun little town! I found a painting here that I was crazy about, but it was suuuper expensive and I am still a student, so that wasn't in the cards. I kept thinking about it more and more since, which hasn't ever happened to me with a piece of art before. It was this incredible oil painting of birch trees on brushed aluminum.. amazing. Anywho, flash forward to this summer when I was in the area again, and was madly itching to go back to see if it was there. Walked in and it was gone. So sad. BUT then I asked the woman behind the counter about it, and she knew the exact piece and gave me a whole rundown of the artist, her works, her contact info, price tange, and all that jazz. So now I'm savin' up for the first art piece I'll be investing some cash into and am thrilled about, all thanks to the awesome owner who knows her shizz. I got some great smaller gifts both times I've been as well - great selection of local artists in a range of media. Love it! read more

It's always wonderful to walk around and see what's changed and if my favorites are still up.the entire gallery is used, it's not massively cluttered but there's definitely no waste of wall space! And there are original pieces I would give a limb for! read more

Beautiful gallery in center of town with so many wonderful items; great place to shop for yourself or gifts.

Stopped here to browse one afternoon when I was killing time in town, and was really impressed with the quality of work here. Almost all original and local art by some really talented people. I'll be back when I have the $ to spend. read more

Sara does a fine job filling this gallery with top-notch art. Don't expect northwoods cheesy when you come in here...beautiful watercolors, pastels, etc... Sara's own art is on display/for sale as well and is stunning. Also some of the best custom framing available...we have brought items up from Chicago to be framed up here! read more
