A new place that recently opened up where the old Spirit of Tibet restaurant used to be, long, long ago. They serve a mix of Asian food, primarily Thai, but other cuisines such as Indonesian and Malaysian and even Japanese (unagi donburi) are also represented.
Tried the som-tam, which was listed as one of their specialties, and it was excellent with exactly the right amount of spice. The coconut prawns had a very strong coconut kick to them, which I liked. And the sticky rice custard was a perfect finisher for the meal. Prices are reasonable, or perhaps a bit cheaper than average for the area.
The only negatives I can think of were that the unagi was only good, but not great. And also they didn't seem to have any internal heating. Which made for a cold dining experience as I was there on one of the most wintry nights of the year, but should be completely irrelevant about 95% of the time, this being the Sunshine Coast and all. read more
