Whether it's this mall or Woodbridge, "East Meets West" is a fun store to visit. I generally go here to get incense but they have so much more than that. Their other offerings include various Hamsas you can hang up, crystals, rocks, sage kits, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, charms, dream catchers and more. It doesn't matter if you believe in the various spiritual beliefs represented by this store, some of this stuff is just pretty decor. The store is basically a rectangle with shelves and islands in the middle. The cashier is off to the right in the middle. The cashier I dealt with was super friendly and I saw her helping the customer before me with a great deal of patience. This store used to be on the first floor, but they moved up to the second floor and as part of that move they upgraded the decor a bit. There's a fun neon sign at the entrance and a gigantic dream catcher hangs in one window with other items. Before you even walk in the store front seems to promise a unique store experience in a mall mostly dominated by department stores and clothing shops. I wound up getting some "short" incense that were nicely priced (20 for $5 I believe). I also bought a sticker for $2. "East Meets West" is a classic part of the mall experience and I definitely recommend dropping by!

New Market is a literal market and the owners allow many women and minority owned businesses to sell their products. The owners also have an event space around the corner where they host parties. The location couldn't get any better. It's downtown Metuchen. Street parking for 50 cents and there is a parking garage conveniently located around the corner. They do craft nights and I'd definitely recommend stopping in to shop and support the small businesses.

This is certainly NOT your ordinary gift shop! They also have a section where the lava & plasma lamps, laser displays, & strobe lights are stored. Finally, they have an area of "ADULT-NATURE" merchandise. I will respectfully NOT go into details about that. They even carried some "Regular Show" (I'm a fan!), Godzilla (roar!), and "Adventure Time" merchandise too, which was all pretty interesting. So what's my favorite part of the store? Is it the "adult-nature" or "Regular Show" merchandise? NO, it's the LIGHT section :). I've always loved looking at lava lamps, and putting my finger on the surface of the plasma lamp so it can react. In fact, this was where I bought my plasma lamp, which works like a charm in the night! Prices are a little high, except when there's a sale on certain items. Not only were they very understanding of my budget, but they were willing to accommodate my wishes and make small tweaks so that we could fit within the amount of funds I had allocated. They made gorgeous boutonnieres, corsages, bridesmaids bouquets, bridal bouquet, and my favorite of all, a stunning flower crown. My vision was to have a very whimsical, wildflower, not rigid bouquet. I also wanted to honor my Ukrainian in heritage and include bright yellow and blue flowers. Ed and his children made my dreams come true. I even received a complementary bouquet before my wedding. It was such a nice token of kindness, and I will definitely be coming back to them and recommending them in the future!
