I'm grateful to those who started it for their ingenuity and entrepreneurship. there's everything from batting cages to inflatable zip line. If you live in Montrose and have young kids, this is a great back-pocket entertainment venue. You may want to keep them in mind for hosting the ankle-biter's birthday parties.

Headed up to Dave Wood Winter Recreation Area today for some cross-country skiing…read more Felt kinda spoiled because just as we arrived around 1:15pm everyone was on their way out...so we literally had the trails all to ourselves! Speaking of trails, they have approximately 4.4 miles of beautiful and delicate slopes of the Uncompahgre Plateau. The trails appeared to be groomed and offer three levels of difficulty: Easiest, More Difficult and Most Difficult. There wasn't a whole lot of signage, so we just referred to our trusty map (see photo). The area is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views of the Cimarron Range, Storm King, Grand Mesa and of course the Uncompahgre Valley. The trails offer an array of aspen and ponderosa pines as well as gamble oak and sagebrush in the lower elevations. Speaking of which...elevations range from 8,000 feet at the forest boundary to 8,400 feet at the highest point on the cross-country ski trail system. This is such a great place for the family and outdoor enthusiasts! Dogs are welcome but it is recommended that owner(s) maintain full control of their furry pals, so as not to cause any unforeseen hazards to other users. No permits are required and ample parking is free on either side of the trailhead. What else can I say but we LOVE this winter recreation area! Be Happy Outside!

The location was great, the building and grounds looked beautiful and pleasing to the eye, the employees were friendly and efficient, this rec center had every kind of sport facility you can think of under its roof, the men's locker room was conveniently located, clean and large, and the weight room (my main activity today) was had all the main weight machines, cardio machines, and free weights. And it was reasonably priced for an over 55 non-resident like me ($6.50).

This park would probably be number one in my book. Has Miles abroad paved walking trails which connect to a much longer bike path through the area, as well as smaller off-road walking trails. All of this runs along side the river Which is gold standard for flyfishing! So you can hike, bike, fish, walk your dog, picnic, and I'm not done yet There is a water park here where you can basically go white water rafting or tubing!!!!!!!! Never even heard of such a thing. Do yourself a favor and stop by on your way to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison national Forest. This is a really great town.

One of my dogs is not so dog Park friendly so my husband walked him on the outside of the dog park along a riverbank. What a great resource for this community.

The property is beautiful, with a river running right alongside--perfect for kids and dogs to play. Our site was private and secluded, making it feel like our own little getaway. The bathrooms were large and clean with warm showers and great water pressure. The property manager was welcoming and helpful, personally guiding us to our site and clearly taking pride in the property. The only small downside was laundry--not all machines accept cards and there's no quarter machine, but the office was happy to make change. Overall, a great stay and we'd definitely return.

Clean and well-maintained, lots of mature shade trees, well-appointed with gas grills, lovely seating areas, well-tended plants and flowers everywhere, manicured, lawn, and friendly helpful staff. We stayed at one of the deluxe cabins and it was tidy with a pretty well stocked kitchen. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. A nice walking path is nearby, but the mosquitoes were too thick to be out past 5 PM so we had to abort that idea. Minor improvement suggestions would be: *use mosquito abatement measures for the campground pond and surrounding areas - they were vicious! *Improve the dogpark grounds - the billows of dusty soil were a lot. Maybe wood chips or another material We would definitely stay again if we visit the area in the future

Macks is one of the best places to take your kids in Montrose, and the best way to disappoint them…read moretoo. Not because the facility isn't awesome- it is- but because half the time my kids have asked me if they can go to Macks, their times are accurately listed. There is nothing worse then looking up their open times on their Facebook page, and your kid getting excited, and to show up to find that it is closed. (Even when the posted hours on the door also say it should be open.) Mack's- If you just took care of accurately listing your hours, you'd be an amazing business.

The tent site we were assigned was HORRIBLE!! It had large sharp rocks that damaged our tent floor…read more It was pretty shady but that was the ony good thing. The road into the campground was gravel for about a quarter mile which is hard on a heavy motorcycle loaded down w/ traveling gear. I think some of the tent pads were soft sand but our site didn't even have a "pad", it was just all sharp crushed rock. I would not recommend this campground or at least the tent site that was situated between the cabins. (I think it was the only one situated like this.)
