Do not hire this law firm! My partner and I retained Monteblanco Law Group and Mr. Sandro Monteblanco for a settlement negotiation after we were seriously injured in a bus crash in Peru. We had a terrible experience and we feel that the law firm completely failed to uphold their obligations to us in our Letter of Engagement, which promised they would "work diligently" and "keep you informed regarding the progress of your case."
Timeline and Experience:
July 16, 2025: We signed the Letter of Engagement and paid the full $10,000 retainer.
July 17 - September 29 (10+ weeks): Complete radio silence. Despite the contract explicitly requiring updates and diligence, we received zero unsolicited communication and no proof of work being done.
September 29, 2025: We sent an urgent email demanding a detailed update on the work performed and status of negotiations.
Response: Mr. Monteblanco provided a vague reply and failed to account for two and a half months of non-communication.
Sandro Monteblanco was highly communicative before we paid the $10,000 retainer but ceased all meaningful communication immediately afterward. We were forced to terminate representation and demand a full refund due to a complete failure to fulfill the most basic terms of the contract--diligence and communication.
This situation goes beyond a simple failure to perform promised services; we feel we were actively misled during the retention process. The stark drop in communication after receiving our $10,000 retainer strongly suggests a prioritization of payment over client service and diligence. We are unsure if this firm is simply incompetent or deliberately took advantage of us, but the result is the same: time and money lost with no progress on our case.
If you value transparency and having an attorney who proactively works your case, we strongly advise looking elsewhere. Our experience was that they took the retainer and failed to perform. We are currently demanding the full refund for unearned fees. read more
