We spend a week there in Feb 2023 and had a great time skiing and enjoy the amenities in the resort. There are many spas on the premise. The heated outdoor pool was my favorite. Very easy to get an appointment at the spa and the services are reasonable prices. If I remember correctly massages are $60-70 or so for 50min. They have many classes such and yoga and some that runs in the spa. There is an adult only spa section which was nice and there is a beautiful natural cold plunge. As for the food. The breakfast was great. Dinner was a bit disappointing. We ended up only eating in twice and went out the rest of the nights even though dinner was included in our package. The rooms and the beds are comfy and the gym is well equipped.

Couple that with attentive service, excellent spa facilities and excellent Tyrolean food, you will remember your stay at this resort. There is a large percentage of guests who travel from Munich which is a 3 hour drive. The resort is located in Oritsei which is a quaint mountain town that looks like it served as the original model for many North American ski towns. Nearby is Selva do Val Gardena, another popular spot for skiing and experiencing this World Heritage site.

We also had dinner at their dinning room the night we were there. There were only trout and lamb as choices for main dish. Trout was all right. However, the lamb was so good that I might have to say it was the very best I have ever had in my life. Love the staff, food, location and services here. Highly recommend to anyone coming this way.

It is located at the end of the main pedestrian street, Via Rezia, and is in close proximity to the TI and gondola to enter the Alpe di Suisi. The rooms were quite reasonably priced in the fall. We stayed on a Sunday evening, and it was a quiet town. Most restaurants were closed, so we were grateful that we chose half board. In sitting down for dinner, we knew we were in for a treat. It was a very cozy dining room with attentive service and wonderful food. The rooms were well-appointed, with a spacious, modern bathroom. The room had two small balconies off the room, which provided spectacular views of the Dolomites and Val Gardena. There was plenty of room for luggage and the beds were quite comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. Overall, this was a wonderful stop while traveling through Northern Italy.

It is a super great deal especially you don't have to drive outside after sauna. The food looks modern. My only complain is that there are no soul in their food. The plating looks amazing, but the sauces on the plate feels so disconnected. I feel like some of the ingredients are only put on the plant for presentation. And not every ingredients are meaningful on the dish. The morning breakfast bar however, was really great. Lots of local ingredients to choose from and they have a great selections of honey. I would recommend staying at this hotel and try their dinner. Just don't be expecting a Michelin Star meal then you should really enjoy this place.

The spa was one of the best I've experienced and every bit deserving of its five-star rating. The alpine ski has miles of mostly blue runs. But what this high plateau lacks in grade it makes up for in high altitude expanse. One of the highlights for me was Nordic skiing. There are extensive trails running throughout with something for every skill level. Next time I'll book it as a Nordic skiing and spa vacation.

This was not a problem but if you have limited mobility it could be an issue. As to the hotel itself I cannot say enough good things. First, the room was very spacious and had a great view. Second, we got the half board which included breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was outstanding and offered a large variety of items including yogart, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, a variety of breads. My only complaint is that it did not begin until 7:30 a.m. I like to get an early start on hikes so I would prefer it start at 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. Third, the dinner that came with half board. Each night we had a different menu Every night they had a very good salad bar and then a 3-4 course meal with at least 2 different selections for each course. Usually the main meal included either fish, meat or a vegetarian option. Fourth, the hotel works with Val Gardena Active which offers a variety of daily activities. Their fees are covered by the hotel. We used them to go on 3 different hikes. Fifth, the staff was very helpful and accommodated all of your needs.

Grones is family owned and super charming. What's even better, is there are only 25 rooms. A lot of the hotels in Ortisei are cater to families, which is fine but also a lot more chaotic. Grones is certainly family friendly but the rest and relaxation aspect is not lost here. The family is fully involved and you see them daily, which is wonderful. They are personable and literally greeted each once us (there were five people in our group) personally when we arrived. The rooms: We booked a superior room and had views to the valley which was lovely! Our room was decently sized, although the standard rooms are on the petite side and not all of them offer a view. Rooms were very clean, offer complimentary water and wifi. The food: The rates are half board (if you choose), meaning that breakfast and dinner are included. This is common in Europe and often quite good. We ate all of our meals here because they were excellent! Breakfast offers a gorgeous and fresh array of fruit, bread, pastries, charcuterie, cereal, nuts, granola, eggs, and the list goes on. Dinner is four-five courses nightly. The menu also changes each night, so you won't get bored. They are very accommodating to any dietary restrictions as well. The food is fresh and inventive. You get the same table for the duration of your stay which is so nice! You literally don't have think of anything on your stay! Amenities: The hotel also has a pool and jacuzzi in addition to a spa sauna, turkish bath, and steam room. The facilities are really nice and peaceful. Perfect to chill out after a day of hiking or skiing. Hotels in the area are equipped for all summer and winter mountain activities, Grones ensures you have access to everything you need to make your stay in Val Gardena amazing. They're a Val Gardena partner, meaning that hotel guests can take advantage of specials and discounts offered by the Val Gardena visitors bureau. Every morning, the hotel provides a one-sheet at your breakfast table with hiking suggestions, weather provisions and local activities. What makes Grones special is their attention to detail and care for their guests. It's one of those places where you just feel relaxed. Ortisei attracts a lot of tourism for good reason! There are a lot of hotels to choose from, but this one has a genuine feel to it that is hard to come by. We'd stay here again!

Longer version: Spent there the last week of January 2016 with my in-laws. Seven adults (incuding grandparents), and five kids (ages 2 to 6) made the party. By sections: a) The hotel: very pretty location in the middle of the mountain, great views (I believe all rooms had at least a comfortable balcony, if not a terrace) and quite close to the Ortisei town center and ski lifts (a 5 minute drive). There's a large parking just under the ski lift that takes you up to Alpe Di Siusi-Saiser Alm that costs max. 6€/day. A bus stops just in front of the hotel but I never used it and therefore can't give any details. b) The rooms: simply decorated but nice, clean and with comfortable beds. Automatic shutters and very clean and modern showers (only complaint here is that our room didn't have a bath, which I love to use after a day skiing... I didn't ask though if other rooms had). Our room was divided into two separate rooms (one for the kids) connected by a sliding door, definitely a great distribution. c) Eating: Much, much better than I could have ever expected. The hotel is family-run and the owners themselves work everyday in the hotel (she being an experienced cook), and it does make a huge difference. I've had reasonably bad experiences in the past with complicated food and seeing as we weren't precisely an easy group (three different nationalities, one person allergic to fish&seafood, and the 5 very small kids) I was worried eating would be a problem. I was however completely wrong. Breakfast offer is large and nice but dinners were specially good, usually three courses plus dessert and in every single case "non-conflictive" food even for the small kids, a great job. Also, seeing as we had quite some small kids we were a bit separated from the rest of guests which made life easier for everyone. d) Service: The waiters are nice and correct but, not suprisingly, not -by far- as nice as the owners and their family. We had the opportunity to spend some time talking to the wife and had a great time, she puts her heart into her daily work (which she loves, by the way) and you can perfectly see it, it's always a great experience -and not that usual- to come across people that love what they do. e) Rates: Great price/quality relationship. Wine and drinks (full bar, by the way, with plenty of references) fairly priced. All in all a great place to stay and definitely worth repeating, can only recommend.
