Went in to order fish and chips for takeout. They told us there was a shortage of fish and it was reserved only for dine in customers. I guess this restaurant doesn't care about the takeaway crowd. It's good but has the frozen food vibe. Not instagram worthy stuff but decent/simple food. A lot of people love it. I'm indifferent.

I opted to sit at the bar since I was dining alone. The service was great, from beginning to end. My review would be 4 stars if based solely on the service..but alas the food was so subpar that 2 stars are all I can give. I ordered a Cesar salad and Antojitos. The Cesar was drenched in dressing the lettuce was super soggy. Also, it came with bacon which I have now learned is a normal thing for Canada but I was totally not expecting it. Ok, so soggy salad but still edible. Next was the antojitos and they showed up barely warm with all of the cheese congealed. I'm actually kind of surprised these were even served to me. They had potential to be tasty..if they were served piping hot. The tortilla had been crispy at one time but now was not that time. They tasted like they would if you took them to go, got them home, microwaved them, and then let them sit out for 10 minutes. No joke. We have been to this Montana's for business more than a few times. Attentive, quick service. The food is always hot and fresh. Steak sandwich is unbelievably good - cooked to perfection with mushrooms and onions. Pot roast soup eats like a stew and is wonderful. We will definitely be back!! read more

I went here today and ordered the deep fried pickles and the rib dinner with shrimp. The food was just a little bit above room temperature. I don't know if they just reheated leftover food from yesterday or it had been sitting at the pass for a while. Restaurant was not busy at all. It was 4 pm on a Monday. I didn't complain because my brother took me and my family out. One thing that happened was I picked up my little piece of cold hard cornbread and tried to break it in half to eat it and it exploded all over me. I told the waitress that they're old. I was annoyed because I was wearing black and got all the crumbs on my clothes. In September I had just finished working at a world-class restaurant in Toronto, as a cook, that serves 1,000 people per dinner service every night. So I know a thing or two about restaurant quality. Well, where do I start... First off as I am walking towards the restaurant we are greeted by employees exhaling their cigarettes in our faces... NOT IMPRESSED. I don't usually leave reviews but the service was awful! Not expecting fine dining, but this was atrocious! Took an hour to get our food after ordering. Ok, there was 8 of us. After we ordered, maybe 15-20 min later the waitress came back to inform the one person who had ordered ribs that they were out of ribs. She was rude when we joked about how could montana's run out of ribs? Plus why couldn't she have told that person when he ordered? Water wasn't refilled until the end of the meal. I ordered the veggie burger and specifically asked for no peppers. I was informed that the peppers are mixed with the other veggies, (weird because this is the only item I ever order from montana's and it's never been an issue before) so I said ok fine no veggies. She asked if I wanted just grilled onions instead and I said yes. When our food finally came almost an hour later it had the peppers on it. So I asked them to fix it and they just scraped the pepper/onion mix off, along with most of the cheese. So now I have a veggie burger on a stale bun with a few crumbs of goat cheese, a single piece of wilted, gross lettuce and a swipe of mayo. Nothing else. This is a 13$ veggie burger? HA. I ended up putting some of the fresher lettuce and tomato from my salad on the burger. A while later I was brought a dish of cold, raw onions to add to my burger. I was floored. I have never seen service this bad and I have been to this location before. The server seemed extremely frazzled. She also forgot a couple of drink orders, didn't bring us enough cutlery for everyone, and when one of my friends I was with asked her to change the channel on one of the tvs so he could watch a specific sporting event, it took her an hour and a half before she did it, even though he asked several times. After asking for our bills, it took another half hour to get them, and then there was some glitch with the debit machine causing further delay, which was apparently caused by one of the servers? This was on a Saturday night between 7-9pm, and while the restaurant was busy, it wasn't full. I can't even imagine what it would have been like with more people there. My friends and I often go to Montana's for a nice lunch or sometimes a supper. The good is always excellent and we always get a very attentive waitress who takes good care of us. We usually order the Cheese and Spinach Appetizer which is so good but really all their food is very very good. read more
