I was a part of the graduating class of 2017, and the only reason I am giving three stars is…read morebecause of the staff. The school itself could do with some repairs and remodeling, but I'm sure that isn't a priority with the supplies the teachers are forced to resort to. The principal was amazing when I started my first day of freshman year, but we had a change about half way through my junior year and she was absolutely horrible compared to the first. She lacked respect for many of the students and simply didn't care to get to know any of us, unless we were the suck ups who stroked her ego. The content of the core classes and some of the electives didn't prepare me for college at all. The teachers however are absolutely amazing. My math teacher, Mr. Dial, was a strict but understanding teacher. He knew how to keep rowdy students in line while not being out of line, and when I asked for help he stayed with me until he found a way that helped me learn. His dedication to individual students is the reason I know math so well. My Science teachers well all really cool people who found cool ways to teach students that helped he lesson stick. My Health Science teacher was my favorite however. Ms. Thomas is the most kind and outgoing person I knew all throughout my high school years, and even when she caught students cheating, she was polite and reasonable. I was one of those cheaters on a test that I'd forgotten to study for. She was so polite when she confronted me that I didn't want to disappoint her by cheating again. Now there was the occasional teacher that I just didn't like. One of which was an English teacher with a temper. At one point they had gotten upset at something a student had said and actually flipped a table and told them to get out. That kind of behavior shouldn't be acceptable in a school. Over all it's not the worst school around, it's also not the best.

I have waited 2 months to go into detail of what happened at our Catholic school hoping that I…read morewould get some resolve from the meeting today but no. I feel no better now than the day Maggie told me what happened and my heart broke for her. I would like to say that I have never felt so disappointed and let down in my life. The principal was also in on the meeting. the smug look on his face and nonchalant attitude assures me that I did the right thing pulling Maggie out of Saint John Neumann Catholic School. The whole incident seems to have been blown off as the "joke" the 2 girls played it off be. Well my friends here is the true story: 2 girls from Maggie's class wrote mean notes during aftercare and signed them with my daughter's name, sealed them in a box and gave them to a 3rd grader. Things like you "are ugly, you are a hobo, your hair is ugly" etc Each individual note all signed with "maggie D". The 3rd grade teacher pulled Maggie aside and accused her of writing the notes without getting all of her facts straight. (The day this incident happened Maggie wasn't even in aftercare.) she didn't compare handwriting only took the word of 2 students over maggie. When Maggie said she new nothing about it the teacher asked one of the note writers who said, "yes Maggie you wrote them and told me to give them to The 3rd grade girl". Maggie said no i didn't. And the teacher tells her girl 1 is a good student and why would she lie? Same day school ends for Thanksgiving break. Maggie comes home and tells me everything. She asked me what the teacher meant when she said girl 1 was a good student and wouldn't lie? What does that mean about me? Sadly i couldn't answer that. Sad & weepy all weekend she doesn't go out to play only laying around watching tv. I contact teacher and by monday no response. After school monday Maggie says the kids said it was just a joke. If it were a joke why would bully #1 lie to teacher in front of maggie insisting she gave the notes??? There was even a student witness who knew it was done intentionally to get Maggie in trouble. I contact vice principal and she assures me this will be taken care of. The kids were to go home and tell their parents and then the vice principal would follow up making sure they told them everything. When i see parents at christmas program neither one apologizes for their kids behaviors acting like nothing happened. At that point i knew they didn't even know. I finally call both moms new years eve and sure enough neither one knew of what their daughters really did. School bully rules show several points the 2 girls broke including passing notes, lying, falsely accusing a student of something and list goes on. Both parents were shocked to find out what happened and both tell me school never told them anything other than it was a joke. at the meeting today I felt like i was talking to the couch. The look on principal's face and his attitude made me feel like anything I was saying didn't matter. Principal apologized to me, but it didn't seem sincere. They would not tell me what punishment was given but from talking to parents I am sure there was none. I know when Maggie lost 10 points last year for something minor I had to sign a paper. Certainly with something like this the parents would know if a punishment was given. At least both parents did apologize to me after I told them what the kids really did to both Maggie and 3rd grader. I appreciate that. And they seemed sincere. More than I can say about the school. I sent my daughter to a Catholic school to get the best education for her like I had for 12 years. But things have changed. It's more about money than the kids. The religion is taught from the books but not how to live it. From August til December was a miserable time for my daughter and sadly I paid $600 + a month to let people, including a teach treat her badly. Maybe today won't be a waste of time for other students in the future. Maybe the school will start taking bullying more seriously and not sweep it under the rug like other things. At least I know I fought for her and have tried to improve things for others.
