Another heart-of-the town bar (since 1984), Monreal's terrace of green chairs and tables have over the years become a staple of the Plaza Chica. Nothing too fancy here: canas and rations, just like one would expect from rural Badajoz. The catch is that the cook at this bar is really, really skilled and reproduces his menu reliably and with a certain pride that isn't so evident at most other bars in Zafra. That, and as the bar is situated at the point where Zafra's two main plazas meet, people-watching from this terrace is some of the best in town. Otherwise, there's enough room in this hole-in-the-wall to stand at a classic bar and enjoy Cruzcampo, coffee, or liqueurs. Locals go here, and it would behoove anyone to find out why. read more
