We found them through Brooklyn Based's event Wedding Crashers (full of Brooklyn wedding vendors) at the after party wedding band play off at the Bell House. The other bands couldn't hold a candle to their energy and talent. We worked with their manager, Yoni, who was super easy & professional to work with. He and their music director helped us to create our customized set list, with three songs not on their long list of mowtown/soul/jazz/pop hits. Book them if you can! You won't regret it!!

I was in charge of finding our wedding band, and had strict requirements for what I (we) wanted: authentic soul/funk band, accessible to non-soul/funk fans, and great performers. These guys more than delivered. The dance floor was packed starting with the first song, and only emptied during a 15 minute break and again once the party was over. The band arrived with a set playlist, but was dynamic enough to read the crowd and change direction to keep the energy high. Everybody from my great-uncle to the four year old children were dancing basically the entire time. On the business side, the manager maintained contact and composure throughout the year, and kept us up-to-date on the information we needed to provide and by when. They were extremely friendly and professional the entire time, and were willing and flexible in incorporating our requests and day-of questions. I've been a collector of soul and funk records for over 13 years, and took our wedding band search seriously. These guys were better and more authentic sounding than I could have anticipated, while seamlessly incorporating contemporary music as well. If your wedding or party band is going to be a point of pride for you, I highly recommend booking Kinky Spigot and the Welders!
