History

Established in 2010.

Entrepreneurial ambition, experience from the optical industry, a sharp eye for design and a compassionate spirit are what led Morten Seaton and Mai-britt B. Seaton to set up monkeyglasses™. They wanted to see if it was possible to produce good quality at a reasonable price. Their first collection of handmade fashion glasses, were made 2010, the majority of which are made in cotton acetate, comes with anti-reflective lenses. Our frames are made of cotton acetate. Acetate is a plastic material that is easy to shape and is extremely strong. The interesting thing about cotton acetate is that approx. 90 % of the material is cotton fibers.This environmentally friendly option is extremely difficult to manufacture, though, and the process involves a number of steps before you get the desired effect. Most of our acetate comes from Italy, and it looks and feels like wood.
