They've had a bit of a refit on the frontage, it seems, with new signage and suchlike but I wanted to investigate further and see if that had actually changed anything inside. The answer? Yes and no. Basically, I'm a magpie. And what did I spot in their gloriously large upper Victorian window? An amazing shirt. I had to go and check it out. So, I popped in and made my way upstairs. The downstairs seems now entirely dedicated to men's fashion -a brave choice, you might think, since I'm sure that most shops would have the girly bits on ground level to attract more in. Even so, I consider it a wise choice -the girls, like myself, will likely happily venture upstairs and it lets the guys know there will be plenty for them to check out, since most vintage shops overlook or underplay the men's choices. And there really are options for guys here; a hoard of funky t-shirts, cool jeans, excellent shoes and so on. (Perhaps I'm making assumptions about shoppers, but it's my small take on what might be going on.) So, upward I went and had a pre-browse before examining the aforementioned shirt. There's a large sale rack up at present with tons of dresses. 50% off, if you make it in time, which is quite the saving. Amongst the dresses were many different enticing colours and styles, all very vintage. Some of them had a bit of staining, which is unfortunate, but the nature of a second hand browse I have come to learn. As ever, the thing that hadn't changed was the pricing. I think some of it was a little steep, but then I am an honourary Yorkshire, so this penny-pinching may be learned behaviour. That being said, the range was pretty good and I'm certainly going to be back for a second look at the amazing display of beaded and glittery dresses and tops -honestly, I'm not sure I've seen so many in one place. There are plenty of other bits to gander at too. A plethora of fluffy jumpers, totally 80s style, boots and other knick-knacks. (Their jewellery on the other hand was pretty well priced!) But -to the shirt. I asked the chap if he could tell me the price, and he couldn't see the label so guessed at around £35-40. Hmmm, that seemed a little much to me. In any case, he offered to take it off the mannequin so I could try it, and after making sure that this would be ok since I might not buy it, he reassured me and fetched it down. It was a perfect fit, and as a total bonus, the label in fact said £25. Now that's a price I could pay for a one off beaded lemon yellow delight. Perhaps it was as I'd just saved fifteen quid in my head from his original price, but for a very delicate and unique piece, I think the amount was just right. (So obviously, I bought it.) At the till the chap was lovely, and one of the other lads commented on what an awesome shirt it was, so we had a great wee natter too. Basically, the staff must be new(er) as they're SO much friendlier than before. Awesome. They're ace, essentially. The best bit? Apparently a lot of girls had come in before and tried the shirt, none being brave enough to wear it. What an utter shame - ladies, be brave and wear something dazzling with pride! I'm sure you'd have looked fabulous. However, you'll have to find another glittered beauty, as the glory of this baby is all mine! Muh hah hah! (In short: check them out!)

I love Primark as I mention in every location review I do. I love the limited stores in the U.S…read more but it's just not the same as actually shopping at UK locations. This is another location that gets an A+ in my book. It's located in the St. Mary's shopping district in York. It's not as large as some stores but it's still really big. Organized and clean. Lots of great options for clothing and accessories as well as household decor. Expedited self-checkout as well as cashiers. Xoxo.

Obviously, I think you can imagine which arena this place falls in to. Yup, the brand retail. Usually, for me at least, there is a bit of a barrier when it comes to that kind of place due to the expense, but this place has got some decent garments inside. Sadly, even if it's an expensive odd jumper, you will get what you pay for in here. I can't entirely justify that much for one wee item but the quality of the knits in here speaks for itself. And that quality comes two fold. Firstly, there is the quality of the wool; they use the finest cashmere, angora and lambs wool in their items. Secondly is the quality of the design, although the garments on ladies wear could be accused of being aimed at, say, 45+ I have on occasion found their clothing to be flattering to both myself and my mother too! Of course, they aren't strictly limited to woolen items, they have a plethora of skirts, shirts, trousers and tops to choose from as well. But really, all I ever nip in for is a beautiful warm cosy jumper which will see me through the harsh winters we've been having. If you catch them in sale, you'll grab yourself a bargain - even if the garments are aimed at an older shopper!

It does give the place a cramped feeling. A lot of the items are bigger, and frankly more pricey, than most gift shops. That's not to say they aren't worth it, just that if you pay a visit here then not everything that takes your fancy may suit your pocketbook, although they do have some smaller items including jewellery. The home decor range is really lovely: I only wish I had the bank balance to take it all home!

I love the range of designer skirts and dresses they stock, which are really feminine and pretty, as well as totally individual and not at all high street. Their shoes are great too. I do remember though getting a bit bored of the typical branded and stereotypically surfer-girl look to the clothing as it just seemed a bit too obvious. Quiksilver has changed a lot since then in its range for women, with much more in the way of stylish, flattering and interesting garments and none of the garish branding of yesteryear. Great! The women's wear in their Leeds shop is upstairs in a pleasant minimally decorated room with friendly staff. The guy's section on the ground floor still bears a strong resemblance to the clobber I remember from my skater days with many a logoed hoodie, but also some simpler, cooler items. They also sell a range of trainers, bags and wallets with the Quiksilver logo. I'm glad to see Quiksilver branching out to some more interesting designs for women, which still retain the slouchy, comfortable feel of skater gear.

The bounty of Quiksilver goods are cleverly placed around the small shop floor, utilising the height as well as the depth of the place. Ground floor, accessories, menswear, kids. First Floor, Roxy - ladies' wear. The buyers have chosen a good round mix of merchandise to kit the store out with. There are the trusty ski jackets, hooded tops, woolly hats, jeans, some footwear, wallets, backpacks, t shirts, shirts, swimwear and more. There's also four changing rooms. It's like Narnia. The brand speaks for itself, Quiksilver always provide good quality clothing, and the choice as said, is really good for the small store. I always like to take advantage of sales season, as Quiksilver do really discount their higher end prices, quite heavily, especially when a new season is looming, and I've had many a bargain from this little gem. The staff are always really helpful too. There's one lass, that whenever I go in she has a different hair colour, I think purple is the choice of the moment, anyway she's really nice, and really helpful especially if you're buying for someone else, be it a kidlet, a sister, the other half or whatnot. She has plenty of suggestions and has no qualms in routing around in the stockroom for sizes that aren't out on display. There's a youngish fella that works in there too, and I find him most helpful on technical clothing; if there's a new waterproofing technique or material quality to be had, he knows about it and he can explain it to you in detail. All in all it's a good lil shop with lots of things to choose from, and helpful cheery staff who actually look happy to be working there.

And like any child I was drawn to it. My mum loves this place too as they do stock everything. It is quite big and has lots of space for you to try stuff on. Sometimes you go to places and there is no room to try stuff on comfortably. They also have a cafe so if you want a break this is a perfect spot! They have a great website too so go and have a look around!
