The pizza I grew up on is just as good as I remembered. The thin, crispy crust is really quite unique, and I love the opportunity to have green olives on my pizza. One of the best things about Monical's is their French dressing. It's a thick, sweet flavor that makes iceberg lettuce actually taste good. I love it so much I also put it on my pizza! Right away we noticed that the parking lot was unusually empty for the supper hour. Once we got inside, we saw the reason why. There were several orders waiting to be picked up or delivered. When we were led to our booth, the hostess set down our menus and plates. As we were sitting down, we noticed our table had not been wiped off. We looked around to find another booth, but they were either occupied or dirty as well. Our server was very gracious, helpful, and apologetic about having to clean our table. Since the bulk of the sales were coming from takeout and delivery, there was only one server running the dining area. All in all, she did a great job. The pizza was good and we enjoyed our salads. Staying overnight on a trip to Minnesota. Found this place on Yelp and it looked good. Definitely did not disappoint! I was surprised to learn this is a "chain" (we don't have them in the South...yet!). Great service. Started with a house salad; pretty standard thing, but perfect size and amount dressing. Plus I prefer a "cold" salad and this was just how I like it. Ordered a thin crust deluxe. Crust was just right and definitely wasn't like a typical chain. The toppings were plentiful. The thing that always separates an "ok" pizza from a "real" one for me (beyond crust) is the sausage. Real Italian sausage here, and the hot peppers topped it off! In town for a funeral, so we decided to make dinner easy and order pizza. Several people recommended this place. It was out of the way from where we were staying, but being a Yelp reviewer and not one to shy away from trying new things, my wife and I decided to swing out of the way and pick up pizzas for everyone. First of all, pizza was pretty pricey compared to what we've gotten used to in Kansas City. But we're not locals, so maybe those prices are the norm here. Second, when we got home with the pizzas, three were supposed to be pan pizzas but they made them thin crust like the fourth pizza we ordered. Also, on the deluxe pizza, it said peppers and onions, but we really had to search to find them on the pizza. They did put a massive amount of green olives on the pizza, which I had never seen on a pizza before, which made for an extremely salty-tasting pizza. As far as the mess up with the crusts, I did call in about it, and they asked me if I wanted them remade or a refund. Since we were a bit of a way from their location and the ones in the house that don't like thin crust were exploring other dining options, I opted for the refund. Much to my pleasant surprise they did it right there on the phone immediately, apologized for the mistake profusely and sincerely, and told me to have a good evening. Not "I have to get a manager for this" and then some person talking circles around the real issue with offers of coupons or "Next time you're in......" They fixed it immediately! Speaks to great customer service. Because there's always going to be mistakes made in the food business; how they fix the issues is what separates a good business from a bad business, and these people stepped up and owned the issue. Great job! The other two pizzas we purchased that didn't have the green olives.....fantastic! Not a piece of pizza left at the end of the meal. I was the one who loves thin crust, and the crust was perfection. The next time we are in Decatur, I will not hesitate to return here. read more

Monical's North cancelled our delivery for a second time! Since it happened before, I called when we placed our order to ensure they weren't so busy that they would cancel us and close again. They assured me our order would be delivered. Not only did they cancel us, but the manager, Mindy, said their delivery person came (we have a 120 lb dog who alerts us to EVERYTHING, and our front door was standing open). Mindy also said she called 3 times and left a message. Neither me or my husband have any missed calls or messages. We'll never order from or eat at another Monical's, and I'm contacting the general manager. read more

Fantastic lunch buffet! If you like Monical's, you'll love the buffet at this location. For under $10, you can get all you can eat salad, breadsticks, pasta, and pizza. The salad portion also has some of the best potato salad I've ever had, along with two types of puddings for your sweet tooth. They kept the hot, fresh pizzas coming; there was never a wait for them to replenish the bar. We mentioned to a server that we would love to have a few slices of sausage, bacon & jalapeño, and in just a few minutes it was on the buffet. The dessert pizza was pretty good. The salad was fresh and crisp, with lots of cheese, and of course we enjoyed that famous Monical's french dressing. I've been here twice, and have order both thin crust and hand tossed pizza. I have been highly disappointed both times, with not only the food but the service as well. The food isn't terrible but for the price, it should be much better. I personally would rather eat Papa Johns or Pizza Hut pizza. However if your looking for something with good deals, the Monical's in Shelbyville Illinois has an all you can eat meal for $7.99 I believe with few refills on Wednesday night. read more
