You could delight in carefully curated products, a made-to-order grill, and employees who enjoyed working for the business. And then Good Food Holdings came to town and took a wrecking ball to the enterprise. From trash candy at the end of the aisles to workers simmering with rage, New Seasons has become yet another example of dislocated wealth running amok. I don't begrudge a business doing well because I think that can produce a reciprocal relationship with quality, innovation, and value. That's what happened when New Seasons was family owned and local. But now this thing is a trap door for enriching people across the planet who could care less about a ripe tomato or a grilled salmon sandwich to order. There's still enough decent product sourcing to be a draw, but the soul of this place has shriveled to a Reese's Pieces.

I explained what was happening, sore throat, congestion, headache, cough, etc... and they recommended the mint tea with CBD infusion to help with my symptoms. I ordered it and sat and drank it there while I chatted with the owners. They are also brothers so that was super cool. They said they were the only game in town and how did I hear about them since I was traveling and I said Facebook. They were kind, gracious and knowledgeable about herbs and I totally dug that. They also ship all over the country and to Canada which is cool. I shared that I also love the hibiscus plant and they recommended the tea they had so I got some to go. It's a super cute spot and I love supporting local businesses always. Wishing them all the best and I will visit them next time I'm in Portland for sure. I lived walking distance from People's Co-op circa 2004 where I lived right across from the now defunct all vegan coffeeshop aka Red and Black. In 2004-2005 I was a working member cleaning the bulk bins as my seva aka service. This is where I first started teaching yoga at the community room upstairs at People's Co-op. Dusty started the program that sadly is no longer currently active. They had some great classes there and have fond memories of a Iyenger influenced yoga teacher that taught classes I liked. This was when I was teaching classical hatha yoga and had not yet shifted my yoga teaching to the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition. Fast forward to the moment of Jun 20223. It's the return and went to People's Co-op. It still is an amazing place. They have a farmer's market here every Wed. Their bulk selection is amazing (see my photos) and so is there produce. Friendly and helpful staff. Afterwards go to Belmont for heaps of plant based, vegetable forward, tasty, amazing vegan restaurants and food trucks that are amazing. Vegan bars, vegan food trucks, innovative vegan restaurants like Fermenter, and more that will satisfy all folks who follow whatever diet from vegan to paleo to gluten-free to omnivore.
