I needed to cash my tax return check. Went to several different banks and credit unions to see if it was at all possible for them to cash it for me. Assuming I would pay a fee , that's fine ! Every single location I went to was so rude to me and treated me like scum for trying to cash a check. Until my boyfriend recommended money tree ! Cindy was SO nice and helpful the whole time ! TERRIBLE experience. I was engaged to be married and had an engagement shower. Unfortunately the wedding is not going to happen and after returning all the other gifts, I had three gift cards. I didn't know who sent them and I would never use them myself so I decided that 50% of the amount of the gift cards in cash was better than having them sit in my wallet forever. At MoneyTree, you CANNOT sell gift cards to them that have the pin number section scratched off. Luckily mine were not scratched when I went in. However, the woman behind the desk (Sara) scratched the pin number but for some reason was unable to verify the balance. I asked to see the gift card and was able to verify the balance both over the phone and online. She said that she could not accept the gift card if she was unable to verify the balance on her side. She then said that she had "made the decision" to not accept any of my gift cards (without even attempting to verify the others.) I totally understand that she needs to verify it on her side but she essentially rendered my gift card useless. I would've taken it to another location (since I had, in fact, verified the balance) or a different company that purchases unwanted gift cards but SARA made that impossible. She didn't even apologize. I will not use MoneyTree in the future. This was the second salty experience I've had at MoneyTree and I will not be returning. I guess it's my own fault though..Fool me once and all that. read more
