"DO NOT HIRE MONEY'S WORTH POOL CONSTRUCTION"! I would not recommend Bill Griffin and his Money's Worth Pool Construction for building pools. We are in our 19th month since we signed an agreement to have his business build our pool in Tonto/Rio Verde, AZ. From the beginning there were all kinds of positive promises and to many "yes we can get'r done soon". But soon after the first check was written came all the excuses why every step of the way were delays. Most of his subs did not show up when expected and then showed up unexpected. All of his 'normal' subs were not responding to him anymore so every sub was a new sub on our job. Every step of the way has been a nightmare. It has taken constant pushing from us to get Bill to do anything. In fact, we are still waiting to have the electrical system programed and the automatic pool cover is still NOT installed. All the subs have had to repair mistakes made during the project delaying every other sub along the way. Bill rarely shows up on the job site and sends his subs to our property without instructions. He does nothing but make excuses for reasons why he can't get the job done. In fact, after we were forced to pay the final installment prior to plaster installation, 6 weeks later we had his plaster subcontractor show up at our door telling us that Money's Worth Pool Construction has not paid him for his completed service. I feel for the plaster constractor and wish him the best at collecting from Bill Griffin. We have given Bill so many chances to correct his mistakes and finish the job, but to no avail he keeps putting us off and won't respond to emails, phone calls and texts any longer. The list of issues is too long to list and amount of frustration is too high to share due to Bill Griffin. We wish we never hired this company. From start to finish, it took 3 months to complete our Spool. Spa built as a small pool. The owner of Money's Worth, Bill, is a great salesman. His ability to be on the job for the sub-contractors became an issue, because there was a lack of communication for the specifics of the job, leaving us as babysitters Due to the lack of pool construction workers, we're told, we had many days of no one doing any work. Plus, leaving trash around in our backyard seemed very unprofessional. Bill would stop by on occasion, but having a contractor on the property during construction would most likely have contributed to the efficiency of the build. read more

It seems he's been in business for a while, but that's only because his workmanship on prior jobs was private. Bill Griffith is a man who makes excuses for his 'money worth pools' people. This guy told me that his faulty wire work/electrical work was due to someone else. I hired an electrician who came out and traced the faulty electrical wire work to clearly stated the issues were 'the tripped wire /short is within the conduit underground. This is money worth pools 'garbage work. Bill Griffith is a man of excuses. His pool name should be money worse pools. Horrible individual and this guys lacks integrity. The money worse pools voicemail is always full and the guy that takes the messages for Bill does not listen to the actual message to be relayed. This guy Bill called and hung up and leaves me a nonsense message just so he wouldn't talk man to man about his money worse pools. I am retired from the Army and this guy lacks integrity, selfless service, self accountabilit, organizational accountability honor and many other reputable attribute. Bill Griffith is difficult to contact and customer service is horrible. I am forced to leave at least one star when I should be leaving a garbage can or used baby wipe instead of a star. I had a review posted a month ago and it is gone. Money Worth can do new builds well but not remodels. His contractors were poor and not supervised by Bill at all. He had to redo the cool deck at his cost because it was so bad Now we have the same problem we had in the first place- pool separation from the deck- in less than a month. He claims the bond between the decking and pool was compromised during the monsoons because the water in the pool became too high and we should have drained the pool lower (during the storm) to prevent the separation from occurring. As we hired him to fix the problem he should have made sure it would not reoccur. I hope this review doesn't disappear like the last one! read more

Called Bill head man in charge, scheduled an appt. For 4 p.m. on a Friday. We both came home early to meet with him. No Bill.....Called the office 430 p.m. and was told he was in his office. He stated that he was looking at his schedule and did confirm we had an appt. Said he could leave now. We cancelled. They lost a cash sale. We had another company coming and they did show up on time. I would rather give this company zero stars if I could. Don't use this company for anything. I signed a contract with Griffin from MWP February 2018 and I am still regretting that decision. In fact during the two months I tried to get him to build me a quality pool he kept telling me that his company built thousand's of pool's and he never encountered a home owner like me. If I could show you all of my correspondence between us you would be shocked. After Maricopa county failed the plumbing inspection twice, I was fed up with Griffin and I fired him off the job. I decided to cut my losses before I had a pool that was garbage. If fact he said that I was the first to do that, because most people don't stop construction when the hot months are coming soon. I knew that since I fired him off the job, I had no recourse with the Registrar of Contractors because I would not let him finish my pool, and that is the ROC's function. I did receive some value for my $17,500.00 I already paid him. I tried to get some of my money back, as I was only asking $5000.00 back for the non code plumbing and the heater I had paid for. At the time of signing the contract, I read about the $250.00 change order fee and told Griffin that I wouldn't pay that fee for a heater because I will decide during the plumbing phase, he agreed. When the plumbing was being installed, I ordered a gas fired heater after I was given a invoice for $2500.00. I paid the invoice the same day. My attorney told me I probably would win my case, but I would spend $10,000.00 to get back $5,000.00. He then said that I can probably take to small claims court to get my $2,500.00 for the heater. April 12, 2019 was my court date with Griffin and he LOST. I'm still waiting for my $2,500.00 plus court cost from the judgement he received. He always would say he never had any issues or complaints with the ROC, and he probably is saying the same thing today. Now it is on record with Maricopa County. Dear Bill Griffin: I have photos from each time your 'technicians' cleaned the pool. If you'd like, I can post them? You should also stick with the facts that concern you. I've used the same water hauling company for years - never with any issues - nor did I need to reverse any charges to them. They provided their service as promised. You should be glad I haven't filed a claim against your contractor's license for the cost of the 40,000 gallons of water that leaked into the desert because one of your 'technicians' TWICE pushed the auto-leveler to a position where it constantly ran - overflowing the trough on the negative edge. I shopped and got bids from three big brand name pool builders and Bill Griffin at Money's Worth Pools. Money's Worth did provied me with and overall bigger size pool and value for the money. Bill completed our pool according to the contract and follow through on the finishing the little details as the summer ended. We had our hopes up to have our pool finished ASAP but excessive heat and rain did cause some extra weeks to finish. The process seem long while your building, but keep in mind it does take several weeks to complete. Bill was able also take care of some of my special needs with the city to accommodate our lot/yard. Now that its finished we are vary happy with the pool, spa, equipment design, look and the way it all work. No pool builder is prefect but Money Worth will build you a quality pool for the Money. We hired them for a remodel of our pool and deck. They were unable to finish in a timely manner and the job ended in a mess. Concrete and chaulk all over the pool walls and now the caulk has cracked and we have openings letting water under the decking which is why we had to remodel in the first place. Very poor communication regarding when they will (or not) show up and it took months to finish. Bill is a great salesman but we are afraid that is it. He continually referred to the lack of available subcontractors as his reason for the untimely finish. Doesnt answer his phone, contractors are not showing up for weeks and have no idea what they are supposed to be doing.. You might as well build your pool yourself.... At this point I wouldn't give them a star. Their service is the worst I've ever seen. And their attitude is twice as bad. They lie to you to get the business and make promises they can't keep. There is no communication. The only way we have been able to talk to any of them,no matter how many phone messages, is to go down to their office and talk to them personally. Do not use these people for any thing related to pools! Heads up people!!! we signed a contract with them in July, which was a fight to get a poor contract revised. Took three months. Asked them for a certificate of insurance before the work took place which was scheduled for November 3. Fought with them tooth and nail to get it. finally they walked up with the certificate on the day that they drained the pool which was November 3rd. They promised they would communicate with us on every single move they made for scheduling and completion because we told them the pool needed to be done before Thanksgiving. We had guests coming in from out of town and did not want construction let alone an empty pool for our visitors. They never communicated, never showed up and this is the 29th of November. finally had the plaster chipped out yesterday and they didn't show up again today to do the tile work. Finally came Wednesday to do the tile work and promised to come back yesterday to do the mortar. No-show. No call. Still no pebble Tec! They have put us off and put us off and put us off and we don't know if we're even going to have a finished pool by Christmas! They have Made promises that they have not kept. They do not communicate, they do not call you to tell you what's going on,they don't show up to do the work and we are concerned that having 50 percent of payment upfront we are not going to have a pool! Right now we are staring at an empty pool jackhammered to pieces with no indication when it will be done! If you are like I am service is key and communication essential. I don't want strangers walking in my backyard without me knowing about it and I don't have time to sit around and wait for somebody to show up. It's common decency and courtesy to call the client and let them know what the plan is for the project. We are ready to call the news channel and file a complaint with the ROC as well as file a lawsuit which I would do only as a last resort. read more

Where to even begin with this unprofessional company. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get a hold of, still have not completed my pool its been over 5 months. We released the funds from the bank and now they wont complete the job. Hot tub doesnt work, lights dont work, havent finished my wall for the pool equipment, sloppy work, lack to attention to detail, they nickel and dime and they never answer calls. This company was a nightmare to work with. They initially started the work on the pool replaster and spa addition promptly, in order to collect the first two payments, but that is when the work pretty much stopped. Nothing got done for weeks. When work was done, it was unsupervised, and thus some things needed to be redone multiple times to get them done right, such as moving the PVC pipe covered utilities away from the pool, where the workers had placed them sticking 3 feet up from the ground, right next to the spa. It took two times before they placed behind the fountain where they could not be seen. They also had problems tiling the fountain backsplash, and when they had to tear it up, they put all their garbage in my recycling bin. Fortunately I noticed it, as I am sure I would have been fined by city of Scottsdale had I not. He very reluctantly came to empty the can, and seemed to think it was quite unreasonable for me to ask for him to do that. The last straw was when they dug the gas line. He did not supervise or use a locator service and when I returned from my trip, I found power outages all aver the house. Turned out that they had hit an electrical conduit, and damaged it so severely that it pulled wires out of the wall on a sub panel. Then instead of owning up to it, they covered it up. Bill of course was right there trying to collect his final bill before this damage was discovered. I refused to pay it at the time because the yard was left a total mess. When he saw the electricians in the yard, he was acting very nervous, and told them that they did not do anything. It took 3 electricians hours to locate the damage, and when they did, he refused to take any responsibility initially what so ever. I however had all the proof I needed, and eventually he paid about $1,300.00 of a $2,100.00 bill. If you are thinking of getting any pool work done, stay away from this company! Anita C. read more

I have never written a review on Yelp before but I was so disgusted with this company that I had to chime in. I recently bought a house that was vacant for the better part of a year whose pool was supposed to be maintained and cleaned by Money's Worth. The previous owner relocated and had no way of knowing that the pool had fallen into disrepair while it was on the market and supposedly being maintained by this company. I'm sure these guys have records stating that they were cleaning and maintaining the pool however the pool still looked like garbage the day after they said they "cleaned" it. The worst part of all of this is after we bought the house I called to discuss the pool situation and they completely shut me down indicating the pool was hurt by dust storms and a tree that I have near the pool. These are the same excuses I saw on other responses to reviews. Funny, I hired another company to take care of the pool weekly and it looks fantastic. I wonder where the problem is??? BUYER BEWARE This pool company doesn't deserve a single star. I wish I would have seen the reviews before we gave him our business. Every review that has been written is true. We had this worthless company build our pool, he must hire anybody off the street corner. He started the pool in January. He promised the pool would be done in March then May, it wasn't finished until July. We had a waterfall built, It collapsed after the first time we used it because of a major leak. He tried to blame it on a irrigation line that didn't exist. We now have another leak, he denied there was a leak for the first two weeks and it has been three weeks since we told him and it's still leaking. There are cracks all over the wall of the pool. We asked for a statement of the work that is being done and his response was "when I'm done, asked him again and he ignored us. Told him there is a Large crack at least 1/2 inch wide in the wall of the spa and we have not heard from him. The cracks in the deck are so large that when he tried to fill them it just seaped into the ground. He patched the cracks only to have water come out of the same crack. He leaves them unpainted. Our pool is brown with white and gray patches all over. Our travertine decking that we sit on has cracks all over it. Always has an excuse and it is never his fault. SAVE YOUR MONEY RUN THE OTHER WAY. In our opinion this man should not be in business. We can show you pictures of all the cracks and the leaks if you like. Or you can see them in person. read more

Money's Worth put in our pool a little over a year ago and we were more than satisfied with the quality, service, and price!

Bill and his project manager came to my rental home to discuss changes to our pool waterfall that we were seeking. The agreement was to cap off the water and create rocks only then paint them the same color as the gold granite rock in the yard. Upon inspection, instead of creating rocks, the water feature was rebuilt and painted dark brown instead of matching the light gold granite that is in the rest of the yard. On 11/18/16 Bill Griffin promised that his men would return to repaint and gave us a verbal guarantee that the water feature (that we didn't want) would be solid. I called November 25th after learning that his men had not repainted yet and was told that he was away on vacation. His project manager returned my call and said he would speak with Bill and get the work done. As of 12/16/16 nothing has been done. This project is NOT what we asked for and is not being remedied. I spoke with the office manager 12/16/16 who stated she would tell Bill I called and he may call me back. read more
