Seeing the other review, I'm very confused how SFM would be involved in a house sale unless they…read morewere involved in the purchase or financing. Then they'd get the commission instead of a real estate agent? IDK about that. Just ask them, if that's a concern before going there. I'm with them to diversity my portfolio. Their payment is a very small percentage of the growth in what I approved to be invested. They carefully chose proven stocks with our risk tolerance (which they help you figure out) and other considerations. I've earned a LOT more through SFM than with the CDs I was using...even with their small fee taken out. They are willing to really personalize your finances by helping with a budget. They've always tried to be as kind and helpful as possible. They hint a little bit at better options and when i followed their advice, I did well. They've always taken the time to answer my questions and will often encourage sit down meeting so I understand everything. I've always felt respected. I never did the budget so I didn't get advice for that. Sometimes I have to ask for help to understand the website or how certain things work and they go above and beyond to make sure I know how to find what I want and how it works--often inviting myself and my spouse to talk to them as well.

I was a customer of Strategic Financial Management (SFM) from 2007 until a few months ago. After…read moreover 7 years with them I would never recommend them to anyone. Understand that SFM will ALWAY put their best interest and their commission before the good of their customer. One product they sold me I kept for 6 years (waiting for it to recover from the crash in 2008). The initial commission SFM made was more than I made over 6 years. It was a cash cow that SFM always promoted as my best investment so they could continue to collect huge fees. You can expect 15 minute phone calls from SFM initially. When they determine that you are not going to be investing more money the calls will stop. In over 7 years there was never a review of my accounts. There was no rebalancing. The last 2 to 3 years they would tell me they were busy and would call in a few days. I would eventually get an email and no call. The only thing SFM ever asked was if my house sold so they could take me for another commission. Two times I requested a transaction to transfer funds to another account. SFM had me fill out all the paperwork but both times did not make the transfer. When asked I was told it was not in my best interest. SFM had no respect for my request, time or expense to fill out and get the paperwork to them. When I fired SFM they notified me of two account numbers they had on record for me. They were not even aware of two other accounts they opened and were responsible for or two insurance policies they sold and were to provide customer service. If you are considering SFM think twice and realize they are going to take your money and give nothing in return.
