We went today for the Mother's Day high tea. 2 adults and one child with a separate meal. A present…read morefor me from my husband after a previous amazing high tea experience here. Booked as a pre prepared Meal
In summary.. Disastrous and appalling.
Our booking was for 1230.
It took us 15 mins to be seated- was busy.
We then waited til another 30mins for our high tea to be confirmed and the menu given. At this time, we were told, that our first course would be ready in 10 mins.
At this point, we had been unable to order our coffee or daughters meal.
We finally did manage another 15 mins later and to give there due the waitstaff -a young man and lady, were lovely and run off their feet! They were the only two taking orders and cleaning tables
Another 20 mins passes, my daughter recieves her hot chocolate, and still no 'first course. Our daughter had finished her drink before the first course then came out. At nearly 2pm.
Our much anticipated savoury plate comprised of a couple of scones a quarter of a Herbert Adams mini sausage roll each (my pinky is bigger than the slice received) a temptation bakes petite quiche each (we received a vegetarian, whilst the table behind received the supposed 'smoked ham ' or rather lorraine- according to the owner. A tiny mushy gyoza dumpling thing and 2 small rock hard toasted croissants cut into thirds with a smidge of ham and cheese. All was ice cold. We were starving by this point.
Our tasteless coffees came out halfway through with prompting. This was also required for our daughters pancakes which were 3 pikelets with some chocolate, though at least hers did look handmade.
We then waited til nearly 245pm for our second sweet course, and this required prompting and a visit to the counter. Which was met with an angry response from the Asian owner. She then also placed the second course rather harshly on our table.
The second course was alittle better but not by much. It was two chocolate strawberries a quarter brownie cut in half, some odd marshmallows, a tiny chocolate each, 2 other look to be store brought items(1 each) and small slices of fruit. However again we ate it as we were starving and while high teas aren't meant to be huge, this was just nasty and stingy.
We get that it's Mother's Day, it was busy etc but $69.9 per person for high tea, this was a joke. Also it's alittle concerning the amount of what we could observably view and assume we're underage children working behind the scenes in the open kitchen.. And, this place serves alcohol. We finally left this debarcle at 3pm. And during the course of our visit, a number of customers were experiencing the same and heard to remark similarly. I had previously been for a high tea with the previous owners which was amazing as was the breakfast food, and was excited only to leave disgusted and butterly disappointed with a heavy heart at $148 ( Minus the $40.85 booking fee already paid. Also to note there is an EFTPOS surcharge.) It's very obvious the new hands/owner have/are running this business into the ground.
