Mr. Caradini is an outstanding artist and a great person. We stayed in a an apartment near his…read moreworkshop. I found myself admiring his work on a number of occasions. His work has a certain eclectic cut and paste feel (he often literally cuts and pastes a variety of source material onto his multimedia pieces). The man is skilled with everything from exacto blades to pencils. From war propaganda to nature scenes his inspiration is varied and interesting. He's often creating new pieces in the shop and it's really cool to watch him work. He is also an all around awesome guy. On our last day, we were waiting over an hour for our cab. Paolo came out and talked to us for a few minutes. After learning that our cab had been missing and that my poor Italian skills didn't help when calling the cab company, caradini invited us into his workshop. He then proceeded to call several cab companies and speak Italian for us. We would have missed our flight without him. If I'm ever in Florence again (and not a broke grad student), I wouldn't hesitate to stop by and purchase some art

If you can only afford to buy one thing during your stay in Florence, be sure to stop here. By the way, the workshop is no longer on Borgo Allegri 17/R, but just down the street at 7/R.

We each ordered a pizza and another entree - pizza con salumine piccante and tagliata di manzo con rucola e grana for me, and veggie pizza and grilled chicken with a balsamic reduction for my wife. Everything was excellent. The pizza crust was THE BEST WE'VE EATEN during four trips to Italy spanning a total of 6 months, from Salerno to Otranto to Roma to Torino and points in between! The chicken and beef were grilled to perfection, and the balsamic reduction sauce (which had other ingredients too) was divine. The rucola and grana were served salad-style on a separate plate, garnished lightly with excellent glassa balsamico, and the beef arrived sizzling and fragrant on a very hot iron griddle - the perfect presentation! The beef itself was grilled just right, but had an ever-so-slight granularity to its texture. I rate this as good quality beef, but not the very best. Nevertheless the expert grilling and the perfect presentation more than offset this quibble. The service was very good, and the prices reasonable. Finally, we were treated to a delightful surprise - the "runner" who brought the food to the table appeared in the shape of an autonomous, wheel-driven, robotic cat outfitted with four large trays. The cat displays different facial expressions, and can purr and meow based on interactions with the diner. We dined at this restaurant in 2022 and 2023 and had excellent experiences both times. Highly recommended.
