Wonderful bedside manners and a beautiful smile. She stayed with me the whole time I was birthing (over 12 hours). Ended up going into surgery for a C section due to baby stats dropping. He is my miracle child. Thank you, Lynne!

This review is not a reflection of Dr. Baumgartners competency as an OBGYN but more so a review of…read morethe content of her character. I have been a patient of Dr. Baumgartners for 6 years. She delivered my youngest daughter, no complications, 5 years ago. Im currently 22 weeks pregnant with my fourth child that is the direct result of IVF. IVF pregnancies are considered higher risk than normal pregnancies because of several factors. At 20 weeks pregnant my PCP at Christus in Athens made the recommendation for me to deliver at Christus in Tyler due to their Level 3 NICU. That way if God forbid anything beyond normal care was needed, for my child or I, we would be in the best possible care locally available. So I decided to schedule an appointment with an OBGYN that delivers at CHRISTUS in Tyler to see if I felt comfortable making the switch before making any rash decisions. I went to Dr. Baumgartners office at 22 weeks pregnant for follow up and an anatomy scan which is done between 18 to 22 weeks. As we are moved to the sonogram room for the anatomy scan a lady comes in and asks me if I'm scheduled to see a different OBGYN. I then explain to her that I have indeed scheduled an appointment to meet with a different OBGYN but have not met with her yet. That after that appointment with her I would decide if I would like to make the switch to deliver at a larger hospital, with a superior NICU, since this is an IVF pregnancy. Or make the decision to continue to see Dr. Baumgartner. The lady left the room for a few minutes then returned. She then informed me that if I was going to switch OBGYNs then Dr. Baumgartner wasn't going to preform my anatomy scan. I was in utter shock. I then tried to explain to her again I had not yet switched to the other OBGYN. That I just wanted to explore another option and then make the decision on what I believed would be best for me and my baby. She then repeated herself again stating "well then Dr. Baumgartner will not be doing your anatomy scan today." So I let her know if Dr. Baumgartner is refusing me medical care because I may or may not switch to a different OBGYN that tells me all I need to know about who she is as a person. I gathered my children and went to leave. As I walked out the door she says "And just so you know if something were to happen at Athens we would transport you and the baby to Tyler anyway!" I didn't respond and continued to leave. This comment just concreted my thoughts that if something were to happen it would be better to already be in Tyler. As oppose to risking our lives by having to take an ambulance ride to receive extensive care in what could be a life or death situation. I still simply cannot believe I was refused an anatomy scan of my child simply because I wanted to explore another option. After 6 years at Dr. Baumgartners I will never go back or use her as an OBGYN again. Im not even sure how what transpired today is legal. I'm very disappointed at how she conducted herself in such a childlike heartless manner. Very unprofessional. Us pregnant mothers deserve better!
