Shortly after Saint Clare (1255) was canonized, a group of nuns from the Order of Saint Clare came to Majorca from a monastery in Tarragona. They founded this monastery and it is one of the finest examples of mediaeval art in Palma. Father Junípero Serra was known in his time as a man with great skill as a preacher, and this convent's church preserves the pulpit from which he delivered the four lessons of the Seraphic school, that is his only known teaching from the pulpit, from the year 1744. read more
