You know how to judge whether a bar really cares about its beer? Look at the glasses. The more…read moretypes of glassware they stock, the more committed they are to serving you your beer correctly. At Bar L'Aviso, I watched the bartender put aside his dinner and search for 15 minutes to find _exactly_ the right type of glass for a bottle of beer. And here's the kicker, it was only a bottle of Fischer d'Alsace Amber. Gods know the lengths he would go to for a trappist ale or a McChouffe bruin. Did I mention that they have both of the latter on draft? They do, and a half-dozen excellent others besides. This is a cool bar, and not just any cool, but French cool, which means mellow, musical and very relaxed. The location is also excellent, right in the heart of the walled town. So, if you are in St. Malo and you want great beer in a sweet locale, you should come here. Definitely.
