Momo Cooking specialises in Nepalese cooking classes. We run fun, friendly classes making 'momos', a tasty Nepalese dumpling. This session is a great way to spend an evening with friends, family or colleagues, working together to create yummy treats . For those looking to get a more in depth knowledge of the ingredients and techniques of Nepalese food, we run a full day session, learning to make 'dal bhat', a complete meal of Nepalese rice, curries and lentils.
History
Established in 2013.
Momo Cooking was started by Keshav Thapa Magar when he arrived in the UK from Nepal. He quickly realised that we were missing out on a whole load of his favourite dishes from home, so decided to rectify this. After sharing his recipes with friends and family, Keshav decided to start Momo Cooking to share the secrets of Nepalese curries, dumplings, soups and pickles with the rest of us.
Meet the Business Owner: Keshav T.
Keshav was born and raised in Khotang, a far Eastern district of Nepal. His hillside village stands at around 800m, and is within walking distance of the top of the world, Mount Everest. He grew up on his family farm, growing and raising all of the food and meat that they ate. This has left him with a real appreciation for good food, and making sure it is cooked well!
After school finished, Keshav - like most young men in Nepal - left the village and went to the city looking for work. He took up a job as a whitewater river guide, and spent the next 6 years taking customers down raging Himalayan rivers in rafts and kayaks. On a day off, he met a British volunteer in town. This volunteer later became his wife, and after a few years living together in Nepal, she convinced him to come and give life on the Wirral a try. He did, and he loves it!
