Updating after a couple more visits with Dr. Bowles…read more Things got better, there were a lot fewer red flags after that first visit. Communication is a trick, but if I did a bunch of prep and acted as confident as him, he listened better. He was disarmed once we started talking about barbecue, maybe that's a pro tip? Based on my experiences, I hope he finds a job he likes better! ALL THAT SAID! I'm still seeing him because he does three big things I have really wished for with other docs: *He advocated for non-surgical options and seemed to really consider the impact surgery would have on my life. *He was comfortable being direct with bad news and even leaned in to help me interpret bad news in plain language so I could understand what it meant for my daily life. *He seems to use realistically low expectations for how much behavior/lifestyle change people are actually going to do in the long term. His delivery can feel a little insulting and he might underestimate patients sometimes, but now that I know that I can be clear about the places I know I'm ready to put in the work. Tl;dr, Much better experience, but still I have to put in a lot of work and strategy to get my needs met.

Like most, I HATE going to the doctor when I don't have to, especially because normally they just tell you to pound some aspirin and don't drink too much wine or whatever. Preferring to skip that, I decided to call South Sound instead. They were able to get me in first thing on a Monday and get me evaluated. Suzi was absolutely amazing and assured me that my neck would return to normal function and still loved me and wanted me back in a nice long committed relationship. She got me a list of exercises and had a bunch of great tips on working (ie, don't sit in front of a PC 15 hours a day and wonder why you are in pain, duh!) and I was in and out in 30 minutes. I very much appreciated how clean everything was, and they were great about making sure I sanitized and kept my germs safely to myself (and vice versa). All in all a great experience, and I'd highly recommend!

It was my first visit to a…read morechiropractor, so I was a little skeptical, but I'd been experiencing nagging lower back pain from sitting at my desk all day and couldn't find a way to stretch it out. After two visits with minimal adjustments and some stretching the pain is gone, and it hasn't come back since (it's been at least three months). What I appreciate about Dr. Lathrop is that he takes his time, doesn't over-prescribe adjustments, and doesn't up-sell to get you to come back for services you don't need. On my first visit he spent an hour asking about my health and habits, watching the way I walk and sit, and feeling my back. Then he stretched my lower back and showed me stretches I could do for self care. The second visit was a follow up. He made one more adjustment and sent me on my way. His goal is to provide you with the tools to keep yourself healthy on your own (if possible), not to get you on a rotating plan of unnecessary visits to make a buck. Finally, he's very aware of your personal space and always asks to to make adjustments, explaining as he goes. I'm not too anxious about that stuff, but it was certainly appreciated. I always felt comfortable in his office. As someone who was nervous about taking that first step in chiropractic medicine, I can highly recommend Dr. Lathrop!

My well being did not seem to be the top of his list that day. If it was an inconvenience we could have rescheduled that would have been fine.
