The first time I went to Ella Bache Toowong, was not the last. In fact I went there today, and…read moreusually once a month... but only to this one. I have visited plenty of beauty, day spa places in my time and none have been as consistent as this little business. The therapists are actually really good at their jobs (and I have gotten some very sub par facials and massages and waxes in the past), very professional and present themselves very well (no smokers breath yay). They give awesome massages and really nice facials in clean, cosy and comfortable environments. You get soothing music, water to drink, a doona on the bed... it's the service you would only usually get at a 5 star hotel.... which is why I had to rate this particular salon 5 stars. Yes, I admit, this isn't for the budget conscious... they charge between 80-150 for most their facials, their products are all in french and very expensive... but they are worth every cent. Not so much the products, but the service you get. They don't insist on trying to sell you products every step of your treatment as well, which is an added bonus. I can't say the same for the Indooroopilly, Portside Wharf, Paddington and other Ella Bache's out there... (they are all individually owned with different prices as well to my surprise)... but the one at Toowong is a secret gem. You can always get a good booking at a time that suits and I have never been let down (I've been going there for the past 7 years). On another note, I rang the Indooroopilly branch up asking if they would match my beloved Toowong prices (their eyebrow wax and other services seemed to be a few dollars more expensive for the same thing) and they refused. Left a bit of a sour note in my mouth, just saying. Toowong is where it's at for sure.

It was my birthday and I booked for a Decadence for the feet pedicure and every staff member that I crossed paths with wished me a happy birthday, I felt like an old friend, not just a new client. The visit started by changing into a robe and slippers, now I am a fluffy guy robe's usually don't fit, but that wasn't the case here, the robe fitted perfectly. Then I was taken to a relaxation room where I got to chill and relax even before the treatment started. Being my birthday there were three of us getting pedi's, and despite the chatter between us when it came to the hot stone massage we all fell silent and drifted to an almost comatose state of bliss. I have to say having pedicures are the ultimate luxury experience for me and I've been around awhile and had a few over my time and I can say that I have never had a more luxurious pedicure in my life!! Just when I thought it couldn't get better because it was my birthday we were given a glass of champagne and chocolates. This place offers the wow factor on so many levels. If you are visiting the hotel or just want to indulge in someone for a special occasion I would highly recommend them, I know I am taking my mum in for another double pedicure session for mothers day this year!

If I just could have managed to keep my head up. It started out as usual - a locker room visit, a silky robe, and short wait in the lounge before I was led to my treatment room. From there it was 2.5 hours of bliss, all in one room, all with one therapist. This was definitely more of a relaxation massage, and though I mentioned it a few times, it was a little light for my liking... but at that point I was too relaxed to let it bother me. It certainly wasn't a cheap pampering session, but if you're looking to spoil someone rotten, this is definitely your place. Hydrated and velvety doesn't even begin to describe how my body felt afterward and after a beautiful tea in the lounge to round off the experience, I was ready to take over the world (perhaps right after a long nap).

Well, at least that's the story I told myself as I drove clear across town for a long awaited reunion with my brow-tamer, Chantelle. It's the only monogamous brow relationship I've ever cared to maintain and so much so that, yes, I now drive across town to Chantelle's new salon to ensure those unruly frames to the windows of the soul are kept in shape. Milk & Honey is easy enough to get to being on Moggill Road and being in a small shopping complex you're not battling huge crowds to find a park or to get to your destination. The salon itself isn't your typical cookie cutter salon. They do focus on medical beauty treatments. Think Botox and Restalyne. Don't stress. If you're just not that into injectables you can still visit for classic facials and waxing. And that's where Chantelle comes in. Her brow skills are on point. She gets what you mean when you say, "I want a natural brow", she's all for maintaining a full Brooke Shields brow, and she's still the only person I'll trust to tint those two pesky strips of hair above my eyes. She just gets it right Every.Time. For a shape and tint I'll admit it is pricier than your mall salon but this is the shiz and for that I'll keep dolling out the clams.
