Beautiful view along the recommended bike tour! There's a nice viewpoint at the top, and there's an option to descend some stairs to the beach. Currently the bottom of the stairs is gated off/closed due to erosion. There are some signs warning that the stairs may be strenuous for those who are not in best health/have mobility issues. The descent was about 50-60 steps, and the steps are pretty narrow.

if you are visiting block island, you MUST go here! it was the best part of our trip. Sooo beautiful and peaceful. There are a huge flight of stairs, but definitely worth every step. i will definitely go back during future trips to block island and share this place with everyone.

Absolutely gorgeous views. Make sure you wear comfy clothes and footwear, there's a lot of stairs! But the views are absolutely worth the trek. Make sure to go on a nice clear day for the best views. Definitely picture-esque and totally worth it to go!

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I had an asthma attack coming back up the giant staircase, but it was worth it. Seeing all the rocks and the bluffs was an amazing experience and it reminded me of Ireland. Absolutely breathtaking. Lol literally.

141 steps to a beautiful secluded beach!!!! Heavy traffic during peak hours, However not everyone makes it down all the way. ****Its been told if you follow the beach to it's end, you will discover a nudist section of the beach......TBD. Hmmmmmmmm.....

This Is My First Summer Living On Block Island. And I Highly Recommend Coming To Mohegan Bluffs! The View Is Absolutely Incredible.

Must visit when on Block Island. Wake up early or visit at sunset and you will be rewarded with the most spectacular views of the water. Walk the ~150 stairs down to the beach and enjoy the clear waters and view. Bring a little picnic as there's lots of spots. Just be mindful of garbage as this island is very environmentally friendly and leaving your leftovers is not cool. Plenty of bike/moped/Jeep parking available at the top of the trail.

On a clear day you can see forever The Mohegan Bluffs are one of the most spectacular spots on all of Block Island, yet for some reason not many visitors take the time to see them. People drive and bike by don't actually stop. I went yesterday, a beautiful July day, and only a small group of people were hanging around the beach. Even though it was a warm day the strong wind that was blowing off the ocean made it feel much cooler. Sure it's a tons of steps to get to the bottom and the clay cliffs can kill you if you're stupid enough to climb on them but the views and scenery are so fantastic that it's worth falling off a cliff or humping up a zillion stairs. Unfortunately the erosion gets worse every time I go and the trail down becomes more and more dangerous. I have a feeling in a few short generations this wonderful spot is going to be inaccessible to none but the hardiest or foolish of souls.

They were kind, and engaging. The actual rental car was physically a disaster - these was quite a lot of cosmetic damage, . . . whatever the dents and scrapes were of no real concern to me, also there was A LOT of beach sand inside the car, but again no big deal. The bald tires, the check engine light on as well as the tire pressure monitor light on . . . were a big deal and quite concerning. I was renting for 6 hours and traveled a total of maybe 25 miles throughout the entire day just sightseeing, however the entire time I was driving, I was keenly aware of the bald tires situation and was uneasy, thinking about other drivers and having to stop short etc. so with that coming into play, my overall rating was much lower than I expected. If I was to rent again from Aldo's, I'd insist on a vehicle that would pass RI State Inspection, because I KNOW for sure those tires that are currently on that Camry, would NOT.

It's a bit under 50 acres and is crossed with hiking trails. 50 acres might not sound like much but since the trails go up and down and all around you can spend hours exploring this place. The Hollow was formed during the last period of glaciation, about 20,000 years ago and is the only know habitat of a small vole like creature. Don't plan on actually seeing the beast because they are reported to be extremely shy, but I have seen very small trails in the grass that might be made by the voles. Unfortunately besides the voles Rodman's Hollow is also home to an enormous amount of ticks. If you do go hiking make sure you take a bath in tick repellent or you might be taking home more than just fond memories. Rodman's Hollow is a relatively short bike ride from the center of town and only a few miles from Southeast Lighthouse. It's a incredible beautiful part of Block Island that unfortunately few people take the time to visit.

Rodman's Hollow is gorgeous and can keep you meandering for an afternoon. If you're an average hiker, or really anyone in good health, the BI trails will not be too challenging and they're full of gorgeous rewards. If you're not up for a long hike or any moderately challenging inclines, you may find yourself facing more of a hike than you'd hoped for since getting information about trails is the only downside to BI hiking.

A nice place to see…read more the sea As the name implies, Ocean View Park is a park right on the ocean. Actually over looking the ocean would be a better description because it's located way up on one of the many high bluffs that make up Block Island. The island is a terminal moraine, a gift from the last ice age when the glacier scraped up strata and other older material from the bottom of the ocean and dumped it here when the glacial started melting. The bluffs and boulders are the only thing that keeps the island from being reclaimed by Poseidon. Even though Ocean View Park is only a ten or fifteen minute walk from Old Harbor and the ferry landing, virtually no one goes here except some local people to eat lunch. That's because it's hidden off to the side of a dead end road and is difficult to see. One of those places you have to know exactly where to look. The park has a cool gazebo thing, a few benches, a small board way and of course great views of the ocean. It's not really large enough for a long walk and up too high for easy access to the water; it's more of a place to just relax, look at the water or eat lunch. On the south side of the park some interesting foundations and ruins of buildings can be seen. I have asked about them but have received various stories about their origins. Makes for an interesting discussion but it also makes me wonder if anyone really knows. One person told me they are the remains of an old farm house that burned down and another delineated a long tale about a hotel that got destroyed in a hurricane. Someone else told an interesting but very questionable story about the Manisses Tribe building the structure to hold weapons for war. As with most things, who knows what the truth really is. A cool little park that is a great place for a quick bite to eat, a great view of the ocean or have some fun digging around in some old ruins. A nice place to see the sea.

I only ate at the restaurant and didnt use any of the other facilities so will only comment on the restaurant portion. Its got pretty standard beach eats. Menu is pretty extensive. I ended up ordering the lobster roll. It was just okay. The bread just didnt do it for me. Many people in my group commented that the food was a bit salty. Service was great though. My main gripe was the weak drinks. You feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean when you are on this resort but the weak slushy drinks were the buzz kill. Oh wait a minute. No buzz kill to be had because I never got buzzed to begin with. Probably best to stick with drinks thst you know have an exact amount of alcohol. Have a good time everybody.

You can't beat the lively music, crazy waves, and stunning views. Sadly, if you're not staying overnight on the island, then you probably would not know that they offer an amazing dinner nightly from 7 to 10 PM that is worth way more than they're charging. I ordered the filet special for $19 which included filet mignon, fingerling, potatoes, and asparagus. While the portion size didn't allow for leftovers, it was plenty to fill me up after a day of walking around and beaching it. When our server Diana came over to the table to take our order, I explained my allergies. She wrote everything down and personally spoke to the bartender and the chef who were both willing to accommodate my needs. I love a good dirty martini, but because of my allergy to red peppers, I often cannot have a dirty martini at restaurants because the olive juice has had olives with pimentos in them or the olives have been placed with cherries which I'm also allergic to. Diana went above and on by securing a jar of green olives that did not have pimentos and had the bartender make my drinks using that. Talk about exceptional service! When the food was brought out, Shawn, the manager, personally came over to see to it that I was all set. he conversed easily with my husband and me and had us smiling and laughing in no time. That's a rare gift! Ballards is very lucky to have him as a manager representing their establishment. If you're looking for something other than filet mignon, you'll be happy to know that they also offer a lobster special from 7 to 10 PM that is $20. We saw quite a few plates go by, and let me just tell you they were the biggest lobsters I've ever seen!!! My husband and I will be back for sure. He loved his gluten free Mac and cheese with lobster, and I loved my filet! The sunset dinner deals will have us and our friends coming back. This genius deal, stunning view, delicious food, and exceptional service have turned us into new customers!

Avoid at all costs - UNSAFE CARS & Zero care for customer safety…read more We ended up at Old Harbor Bike & Moped Rentals because Aldo's screwed up our Bronco reservation and sent us here. Their boss agreed over the phone to "hold" a PT Cruiser for us while we walked over from Aldo's. When we got there, no one at the desk knew what we were talking about. We waited in line for 35-40 minutes before someone called the boss again and was told to hand us the PT Cruiser. At first, we were genuinely grateful that this location was able to step in and get us any car after the Bronco disaster but that relief disappeared almost instantly, and it became very clear we just traded one mess for another. The car was already running in the lot, and once we got in, we saw every dashboard warning light on check engine, battery and a portable battery booster just sitting in the back seat. No one mentioned any issues with the car, no warning that it might not start. Within the first couple of hours, it stalled repeatedly. We were stranded in a parking lot with no cell service at one stop, forced to try starting it over and over until it finally turned over. Later, it died again before barely restarting. The suspension was shot and it felt absolutely unsafe to drive even on main paved roads, never mind the island's dirt roads or side parking spots. We avoided certain roads entirely because the car felt like it couldn't handle even a small bump. It was slow to accelerate, rattled constantly, and genuinely felt dangerous. We were so nervous about getting stuck somewhere else with no way to call for help that we cut our rental short by hours and returned it early. When I told the woman at Old Harbor about the problems, multiple stalls, dangerous suspension, dashboard lights on from the moment we got in... she just stared at me, said nothing, and took the keys. No apology. No "we'll look into it." Nothing. This car should never have been rented to anyone. It was unsafe, unreliable, and clearly not maintained. And the complete lack of concern from the staff when I reported the issues says everything about how little they care about customer safety.

It's not just this location but with the prices listed, you're better off bringing your own bike or…read morecar if you can. For cars, it's anywhere from $70-95 for one hour and goes up by $20-50 each hour plus a mandatory $10 insurance fee. For bikes it was $27.50 for 4 hours but a majority of their bikes are more like mountain bikes so they're harder to ride. The staff is very friendly and understanding about switching out bikes so they get 5 stars but the price is definitely a 1. Bikes come with a helmet but I didn't see any locks. However the island seems safe and lots of people feel comfortable leaving their bikes in the racks unlocked without getting it stolen. Hopefully it stays that way.
