The Mohave County branch of the Tax Assessor's office, utilizes inputs from " Realtor Sales figures ", rather than calculations based on replacement costs which would reflect actual valuations. E.G., : Labor and materials times square footage, plus land cost. 2. Appealing a Tax Assessment requires much legwork and jumping through hoops, and over hurdles. The appeal process is given the thumbs up or down, by a Board of Supervisors. Who are not Economically trained Economists and individuals performing calculations, or looking at data. And, you as a homeowner, have to appear and make your case yourself in person. " Even though you made the appeal in writing previously " to the agency. A obvious dodge and hurdle placed in front of property owners. Also, appeal's data made in writing " doesn't mean anything to the board ". Stated on appeals information. Only " in person repeating " of appeal information repeated to them, in person. Why doesn't previous written appeal information not be considered? Useless duplication and hurdles placed in front of appealing property owners. This board seems to be more like " The Emperors of Arizona's Real Estate lobby ", than serving the public. In Federal Government, " The Realtor/Real Estate Lobby, is the largest and most well funded " along with Oil mining. 3. By their own procedural hurdles in place to the taxpayer appeal applications, they aren't serving or working for the public. " Not a value based branch of Mohave County Governance " to taxpayers. Should be replaced with Economically trained Personnel involved in actual economic calculations. Real Qualified Economists, not layman, not Real Estate interests, not friends of friends of vested interests, as we have now. Another " Payroll Leak, in Mohave County ". Since looking at " Realtor " sales price figures online, takes no more than the 5 minutes they spend doing it, what are they doing, the remaining 8 hours they are on the clock? " Playing Checkers? surfing the web ? looking for potential property acquisition targets, from tax payers who are " delinquent " dealing with financial problems? Currently, a arbitrary tax based, on Realtor inputs only. Not materially different than: " Flipping coins, reading tea leaves, consulting the spirits " . Rather than perform the necessary calculations. It is similar to a stranger saying: " this is a pile of gold ". When in reality, it is a pile of dirt, rocks and sand. A citizen can do anything they claim they are doing, in 5 minutes , on line. Took months to hear and deny my appeals of which there were " 2 " No real, transparency to the homeowner. Lots of blather and lip service. " An insult to the intelligence of the public ". 4. Invite yourself to consult with them directly, as to exactly how, your real estate taxes are figured out, on your home and property. Maybe they " throw darts or flip coins or consult their Magic 8 Ball ". 5. I personally do not object to paying taxes, even as I have no kids or kids in school. I prefer an educated population versus a drag line of uneducated people, on public welfare rolls. Public School funding comes from taxpayers who actually pay taxes. " Not talk about it ". Thus, " complaining about taxation " is moot, if you " don't pay taxes to start with ". Lets see their tax returns. Many in our various levels of government don't, as they have write-offs, write-downs and asset depreciation statutes written into tax codes, the working folk can never utilize. Business interests only. The net effect allows them an exit to paying part or any taxes. The reason the Alternative Minimum Tax was created to ensure something was paid to fund government. By the Richard M. Nixon Administration 1970-. So, be mindful of what you are being told by " tax avoidance dodgers ". When listening to them ask for them to show their returns and IRS filings, for comparison to yours. That should be mandatory for any public office. Considering the fractional amounts on tax bills, school funding provides, its a win-win in value. A great investment for the country. Any taxation should be accurate. Not gleaned from non-economic sources and vested interests, controlled by " lobbyists and Real Estate Interests ". Real data, based on replacement cost calculations. See for yourselves. 6. " To know, how the Assessor's Office Personnel, assigns the valuations to their personal property, or properties ", would most certainly, be an interesting and enlightening conversation for sure. As a property owner, you may want to have one with them. Will they, want to have one, with you?

As a potential client, this was a HUGE red flag right right away. When it comes to important tax matters, there's no way I'd cut a check to this office to prepare my taxes. As much as I trust that Henry is an expertise in his field, I would never consider hiring him to do my taxes because I know I'll have to consistently chase he and his lacking staff to get anything done. I hope when Henry reads this review, he will seriously consider making changes in how he operates his office. Especially pertaining to following up/following through with potential clients. After chasing them around for a couple months trying to get a follow up to my questions, phone calls and emails... I finally gave up. They lost me as a client which is unfortunate because I was looking forward to Henry helping me with my tax situation and even more so learning from him. It truly disheartens me to post this review but the truth is they need to take a closer look at how they're handling their potential clients. In the long run, I just can't see anything getting accomplished with this firm.

This month, January, wanted to stop by the office and it was no longer at the original location. I called they moved to a new location. But in the process, no notification to potential and former clients. When I called requested the template form to begin the task for filing this year. One week passed. I went to another CPA on Stockton Hill Road the other day they set me up for an appointment. Before leaving the office, they also gave me the template form to complete and return to meet with an advisor. It is a shame where you front line staff can be the downfall of a business.
