The new fly system is incredible, there are plenty of arenas to ride in no matter your discipline, and the grounds are very well kept. There are several turnouts available to use for your horses, they will deliver feed and bedding if needed, and a great structure to hold manure until it can be hauled off. I love being able to watch all the teams practice once school begins and there are so many different disciplines showcased at this facility. As a fence rider, they are always willing to work with me to help me prepare for large events if needed. Staff is always great and friendly. One thing I do love is the level of care your horse receives is completely up to you. The beauty of partial care boarding is that you get to take care of your horse the way you want to. They drove a tractor into the turnout multiple times with my horse and several others still in it, deathly scaring him and causing minor injuries. And they recently cut down all of the turnout sizes drastically, completely defeating the purpose of a true turnout (creating space for a horse to run and play safely and effectively). This is confusing when there is a HUGE GREEN turnout on the grounds that could be utilized for more than 2 horses. They've treated anyone that tries to bring new ideas that vary from their own to the table terribly; going on to expeditiously bring the animal science department in and making false accusations to attempt ruining his or her professional name. They are a facility set in their ways and in no way looking towards progress in structure or the day to day running. Cleanliness is unknown at this location, with animal wastes being discarded monthly and fly repellant never being sprayed when promised. Hundreds to thousands of dollars tack would go missing for periods of time or all together. I never believed it was possible here in Lubbock to be at a facility where you aren't drowned in dirt and dust every time you step foot into a barn. But I now know that it is possible once I moved stables. It is crookedly run by a young, inexperienced barn manager who is only looking for her own best interest. It may be okay to board here a night or two for a show, but don't stay long because people running their horses around the facility on cement leads often to injury of your stalled or turned out horses and summer sores are very common.

I was an absolute cynic about going to a place to paint and decorate your own pottery but I was…read morecompletely out of ideas for a Christmas gift. I figured if taking a 2 year old would make it a little less terrible since she was the one doing the decorating. Not being the artsy type I was betting on getting a good dinner next door at Dickey's and then spend a few seconds getting some paint spilled onto a bowl, then mission Christmas gift would be complete! I have to admit that I was surprised: a) how much fun it was b) how much stuff they had c) how busy they were d) how friendly the employees were about helping a clueless guy (me) They has glass, silver, and a few types of ceramics that you can paint, mold, fuse, etc. If I had to guess I would say that they have maybe 650 different pieces that you can work on from 2' platters down to salt & pepper shakers. You basically pick a blank piece and try to grab a place at a table, then squirt out some of the 100 different colors onto a tile. They have brushes, stencils, sponges, tape, x-acto blades, and anything else that you might think to use. Then you (or the two year old whose is actually doing the painting) goes to town, pay for your item, then wait a few days for them to fire it. The staff was extremely friendly in telling me what I needed to do and offered suggestions on color selection. The business is pretty nice on the inside with Pier One type furniture (they also had hot chocolate and gourmet cookies for you to snack while we were there). Among the other customers that were painting while we were there was a frat guy painting a heart box for a girl friend, people very young to very old painting random things, a college aged chick with a piece that she must have spent days on, and a guy as clueless as me trying to make something pretty. It was an interesting cross section of Lubbock and made me think that Art Avenue will probably last a while. There were also some pieces around the entrance that were for sale (and some of them looked like stuff you would find at a museum shop). I really enjoyed myself and would definitely recommend it to anybody wanting to have a unique outing in the Hub City

Here for Texas Tech graduate graduation ceremony on a Thursday evening. Wayyy easier than the…read moreundergrad ceremony with less people. Parking was easy and going through the security screening was easy. Clear bag rule in effect and no food/beverages from outside allowed. Heck even an umbrella got snagged! The area was clean with great lighting and this time the template wasnt freeze to death cold. Restrooms were also clean. Overall what I'd expect from a venue.

Strangely enough, I've gotta say I love Tech basketball games even more than I love the football…read moregames. I've gone to three games there so far (two men and one women), and each time I've gone I have had fun. If you're a student at Tech you get into the basketball games free, so you are already winning, and the tickets are not super expensive for general admission public seats. Both of the regular season games have had great incentives for students. The first game I went to had dollar hotdogs, and the second game had free pizza for the first 200 students. Sadly though, the normal food and drink options are what you would expect for any athletic venue. Overpriced stadium food -_- Overall, So far I've enjoyed every experience with Tech, and if you are in town during a game you should go check it out. Wreck 'em Tech!
