Every year it's @ birthday present for my sweetheart, MLB.tv is a must for her Red Sox obsession. No matter where we are, at home, on the boat, traveling or just next door, as long as we have a connected device we can watch our Red Sox anytime. We used to go to Fenway for games and local TV was never a problem in New England because they were always sold out but retiring over 1200 miles away our go-to option is definitely streaming on MLB.tv. #RedSoxNation Blackouts stink! Not only are your local team's games unavailable on MLB.TV, but nationally televised games also fall prey to blackout restrictions. Do these people ever stop screaming? Every thought, every observation, every highlight is delivered in a high pitched shrill just short of the speed of sound. I get it, the network is beholden to MLB headquarters on Park Avenue and is acutely aware of their benefactors desire to treat every 5-4-3 double play like the moon landing and to render each player under 23 in bronze for their future enshrinement in Cooperstown. Yes, I'm talking to you Eric Byrnes. This mohawked leprechaun must sleep in a vat of Red Bull. Every appearance no matter how benign is ripe for an adrenal explosion and histrionic outburst that renders his supersonic rants completely unintelligible. Maybe, I just don't get it but is it possible to downshift the hype and never-ending clown show to a lower gear. MLB has made it painfully clear that the overwhelming focus of their coverage will be on the next generation. No argument in the sense that the current pool of emerging stars may be the best way to reengage the waning interest of the younger fans who are fleeing the sport in droves to nurse their spastic attention spans. But in climbing all over each other to celebrate the youngers and their emergence as home run derby fetishists, the beauty of the game as a patient exposition of subtle strategy and athleticism is being smothered underneath overwhelming hyperbole, new age sabermetrics (I understand their usefulness but I want thoughtful analysis, not a math class audit) and eye-rolling pyrotechnics - not to mention the fog of catch phrases and the celebration of boorish on field conduct. Can there be a balance? If not, the current iteration of The MLB Network is on the verge of becoming unwatchable. read more

I watched the MLB network every morning and all I see are advertisements for gambling it's pathetic. They could care less about any other team besides the yankees the mariners the blue jays the mets the padres even though the Guardians have been right there with all those teams all year. I'm over this pathetic popularity contest you all have created. Guards are 5 games up yet the White Sox still get more love. Im done watching this biased show. read more

I just got back from a fantastic weekend vacation that I won through my cable network in Asheville NC. I took a tour through the MLB Network channel building.. I was very impressed with the baseball cards, signatures, production rooms as well as the friendly people working there. I watch the network at home. I really enjoy the coverage, up to the minute breaking news, movies as well as the games the network televises. Go MLB network! read more

I used to be rabid viewer game highlights until Heidi Watney began "hosting." She is absolutely awful. Attractive, yes, and I assume that the "hotness" factor is why she was hired. Her voice is unbelievably off-putting, so grating that I refuse to watch the show anymore. Either get her voice lessons or get her off the air. Surely someone can be found whose voice doesn't send chills up the spine. And, by the way, why must the host be female? Gee, wonder why.... read more
