The instructors/owners are very respectful, professional, and the best at what they do. They teach everything that you could ever want your child to know in every aspect. I am not an easy person to please when it comes to anything with my daughter and I trust absolutely nobody....but I am completely pleased with everything that they do and teach here and I would trust them with my daughter with anything. My daughter and myself will be loyal to Shaolin Kung Fu Academy and its instructors/owners for as long as they are here and for as long as they will allow us to do so. Thank you for all that you do and for everyway in which you do it......it's truly an honor and a blessing to have found such great people and instructors to teach my daughter the things that I am unable to teach her.

I learned about Descending Dragon and Thrive Acupuncture from a Groupon, and I am pleased to say…read morethat this place is a fantastic find! Jamie provides the acupuncture and Jarrod provides the Tunia (Chinese hands on massage therapy). The treatments are affordable (only $30 each) and effective, and last about an hour total (for both the acupuncture and the tunia). I've been coming here twice a month for the past month, and I am feeling much healthier and happier since starting these treatments. Acupuncture is extremely helpful in treating a variety of health issues. If you suffer from any kind of chronic pain, headaches, high blood pressure, allergies, or digestive problems, you could most likely benefit from regular treatments. Descending Dragon also offers martial arts classes, and Jarrod is a highly knowledgeable expert instructor, as well as being committed to traditional Chinese medicine. If you don't mind a communal setting for your treatments, try it, and you'll soon experience the multitude of benefits that acupuncture and Tunia offer. I have not tried the martial arts classes, but I am confident that they are also highly worthwhile. The martial arts classes offered include Open Training, Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, and Taiji Quan. There are reduced rates available for multiple classes.

I Liq Chuan is the martial art of awareness, and as the name suggests it has a heavy emphasis on…read moregetting to know one's mind and body. I wish I had known about it years ago, because there have been so many unexpected benefits during my first year, but this art is relatively new to the US. I Liq Chuan is like tai chi, but those who come to this class with a deep background in tai chi will be blown away by the explicit, de-mystified approach our teacher Kelley Graham provides. Part of that is because I Liq Chuan has a formal curriculum. That said, every class is different, and it has been impossible to be bored. With 30 years of training in various martial arts, Kelley uses select chi gung and nei gung exercises to supplement the curriculum, and uses his own understanding of the moment to decide what we need to advance. See www.ucbprogram.com for more on that. The studio is on Ft. Lowell and everyone who sticks with the class has been really nice. The atmosphere is supportive and welcoming. It needs to be, because this is difficult stuff!

Jolting their arms and legs into position, not very happy with how my child is being manhandled. COUNTING: It's a Korean sport, why are they having the students count in Spanish? Accommodating the Spanish population? There are many other populations of languages that aren't being accommodated to. Korean is most appropriate. OWNER: Big guy likes to talk over his employees and shout out from his office correcting them- not too professional. FACILITY: Smells like a freshly opened bag of Doritos. Wish they'd open the back door for some cross breeze when the weather permits. Nice people, room to improve.
