I went to Mission Hall today to access a Walgreens, technically known as "Walgreens at UCSF", today, Friday, November 29, 2019 (Black Friday). Mission Hall houses UCSF's Institute for Global Health Sciences and has workspace, retail space, and student space. It was designed as Activity-Based Workplace (ABW) and there is lots of access to natural light.
The Walgreens I went to is located in the first floor of UCSF's Mission Hall, at the northeast corner of 16th Street and 4th Street. It is dedicated to serving the UCSF community at Mission Bay, be they employee or patients, but all are welcome. This is not a full Walgreens; it basically has two windows for prescriptions, and some OTC medications, candies, drinks, and greeting cards. That's it. It is about 1/20 the size of a normal Walgreens. Just enough to fill a small corner space of Mission Hall.
I went in to pick up some prescription and was told to wait in one of the five chairs, as one wasn't ready. In the meantime, three or four other customers came in, all to get prescriptions. There were like four workers there, either techs or pharmacists.
This location was really convenient to me, as it is right across the street from the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. I literally just had to cross the street.
I also had to use up some Walgreens Rewards points by Sunday, so I bought a candy bar. Prices here are a little expensive, given that is is San Francisco, but I am glad I didn't have to look elsewhere for another Walgreens.
The only reason I am giving this location 4 stars instead of 5 is because the employees in the Walgreens were kind of bland. I guess I would be too if I had to work Black Friday, lol. I hope to come back one day to see the rest of Mission Hall. I am sure I will be dazzled! read more
