The pho here is excellent! I think that if they cut down on the menu items, the rest of their items could enjoy the same level of excellence. The crispy wontons, egg rolls and dumplings could use some more attention. And please clean the condiment bottles before you close each night so the lunch customers the next morning don't have to see crusty sauce all over the bottle tips. read more

My favorite restaurant anywhere. Love the staff, love how fast it is in and out. It's affordable and has generous portions. Excellence dietary options for everyone. I am vegan and my favorite is the #33 with curry broth! I've forgotten they are closed Mondays more times than I care to admit... but I live in VT now and still come down regularly to patronize this amazing place. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday lunch hour with my wife. Parking lot behind the restaurant, as street parking is few and on a busy avenue. Lot is metered, but you need to know your license plate number to apply the credit. Of course, it was raining and I did not know my plate number and had to run back. Place was crowded, mostly college students were servers. Packed with students, workers, families. We had a nice pot of tea, glasses of water and each of us had a beef pho lunch special and shared a banh mi sandwich with cold sliced pork. The beef pho was a good lunch portion, nice and hot on a rainy day. Plate of bean sprouts, basil and hot peppers. Good flavor, but the broth needed a little more beefy taste. Noodles were good and the portion was plentiful. The sandwich had a nice crusty roll, flavorful carrots, daikon, but the meat was just okay. Great lunch overall, not the best we have had, but definitely good on a cold rainy day and convenient to the campus. We hope to stop again. read more

YES! Anything I got there was an A, or at least a B+ So yes, college kids packed restaurant got it right! Last time, ordered twice in 1 day, because I live kinda far. Pork buns (generally don't love this dish) were good, pork dumplings - good, spring rolls - meh, drunken noodles - yup, spicy kimchi & curry soups - double yum. Cons - you need to ask for to-go utensils. I used to be picky eater and normally I'd say, wait a minute, why are they serving drunken noodles at a Vietnamese restaurant. But... oh well. Miss Saigon is conveniently located near Amherst College and UMass at Amherst. Very ideal for students and residents are alike. In fact, one of the students recommended we go here for Vietnamese food and it was definitely worthwhile at this location. The pho was good but they were little bit sparing on the meatballs and rare steak. The Vietnamese rolls with shrimp were delicious. I felt that the chicken satay was okay but not great. They did not put enough marination on the chicken. The peanut sauce was much more natural tasting than sweet. My durian shake was fantastic... In fact, this was my favorite. I love how the Lemongrass Tofu Vermicelli is filled with a lot of good vegetables. the sauce is very delicious, and the tofu tastes really good as it absorbs the sauce. Finally found a tasty alternative to the meat version of Lemongrass Vermicelli (bun thit nuong)! The tofu & avocado spring rolls are delicious, especially when dipped into the peanut sauce or fish sauce. The tofu and avocado are a little bland so it would be great if they were marinated in some sauce before put in the roll. It'd also be great if the peanut sauce was less sweet. The vegetarian Pho (I didnt take a photo of it) has good broth, but the veggies are very undercooked, which disappoints me :( The durian sweet rice is the best dessert I've ever had at a Vietnamese restaurant. My daughter and I ordered the vegetarian Pho soup. Plenty of fresh vegetables the broth was very good.- perfectly seasoned. - 5 stars The portion was smaller than what I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants. I also had the Vietnamese pancake which was ok. The pancake was over cooked and dry. This place is probably one of my favorite places in Amherst town center. It's always busy with long lines on the weekends, and for the price the food does not disappoint. They have all sorts of dishes with generous portions and they also offer a variety of boba choices. Although I've been playing it safe and have been consistently getting pho for the past two years, I've been starting to branch out and try new things. Of those things, my new favorite is the braised pork with a bowl of warm rice. The staff is nice and friendly, and the bathroom is also very well kept. Very good Vietnamese food in large portions at the always bustling restaurant. Service is rapid and cheerful.

Everything was delicious, matcha milkshake is incredible and the BBQ Pork Banh Mi (not pictured) was perfect for two people to split as a complement to the giant soup bowls (fabulous for rainy day weather). I honestly go here ALL THE TIME with my friends. If we worked a hard day and are craving something nice and savory...MISS SAIGON is the go-to. It's the OG spot to eat with a group of people. This place is already pretty popular so if you go during a main meal time then expect some sort of wait time. The longest we've waited was 30 minutes for 3 people so far. My suggestion for this place is to definitely get pho. For the amount you pay, it is a good price and very filling. The most solid one is #25 but every single pho bowl I've had has been pretty good. Some of the appetizers are okay but the carb rangoon and spring rolls are always yummy! I have also ordered off the chef's special and the dishes(usually meat) they serve are a reasonable size but its just the normal good asian food you would expect. Nothing too special. The pad thai is good too! In terms of service, the waitresses are usually very nice but there's so few of them that they're constantly all over the restaurant. So it may be a little hard for you to get their attention or for them to remember every single thing you ordered. (This only happened once but they messed up our order/forgot to bring out a dish). So please be understanding because they are so busy. read more

Miss Saigon is the most authentic pho I've had out in the Amherst area. This is probably a place that I've eaten at most during my time attending UMass for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, the food is always amazing. The pho isn't as good as you could get in Boston, but for Western MA I'm always impressed by the flavor and portion sizes of the meals. My favorite is definitely the number 25, the Miss Saigon pho, but I also like to switch it up between the flank, rare beef pho (27) and rare beef with meatball pho (31). I've never been disappointed with my food! Second, I've always had good experiences with the waitstaff who are always attentive and friendly. Oftentimes there is a wait at the front to be seated, but the staff is always there within a few minutes to take names and I've noticed that the line usually moves pretty quickly, as there is a fast turnover rate of tables. I think this is a testament to how smoothly this restaurant is run. Lastly, the location is very convenient. Being in downtown, you could simply walk from campus, take the buses to downtown which are located only a minute's walk from the restaurant, and there is a large parking lot directly behind the restaurant. You do have to pay for parking, however this lot takes cards as well as cash, and you don't need to pay on Sundays or after 6pm. Overall, Miss Saigon is one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Amherst! read more

I had a decent experience my first time here in September! The food is very good and the owner was super down-to-earth. I thought the restaurant was very clean and that the service was pretty personable. I just wish that they were more attentive but I know they're doing their best during large crowds. Aside from that, the only thing I have to comment about is their pricing, I always feel like they're a little bit overpriced for everything but that's because I have actually experienced cheaper, and better Viet food at other places. Love Miss Saigon. They have great hearty pho when you're feeling blue, or down with a cold and need a hot bowl of soup to warm you up... It beats the pho that you get even at UMass Dining. The broth just tastes different, like it was stewed for several hours. The owner and waitresses were all very nice from what I recall when I came here frequently during college. After walking around, my family and I decided to stop by for some pho. We were seated pretty quickly & ordered the shrimp spring rolls (these were for the family, I never really liked spring rolls in general) and the beef pho. Ok so the pho. The family and I ordered the regular serving size which was perfect! On a separate plate was the standard bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, lime, and basil. The cilantro was found already in the pho. Broth was flavorful and noodles were standard although I had some parts that were undercooked. Also, the beef slices were on the thicker side - hence why this place gets four stars.
