It is one of the many antique shops in…read morethe compound but it has a bit more of a quirky twist to it compared to the rest of the antique shops in Cubao Ex. It is where i bought my skeleton pipe made out of resin. It's got a lot of old toys and collectibles that would make a great addition to your home or the perfect gift to give a special friend. Some items you will find here are collector's items from Disney like music boxes or cartoon figures from their iconic films. Band merchandise can also be found here like Beatles posters, lunchboxes, mugs, and much more. You can also find merchandise with iconic actresses like Marilyn Monroe. The rest of the store features home furniture that will take you to another era and perhaps leave you nostalgic which will make you buy something. Maybe it becomes harder to let go of the thinga here because they are all waiting for someone to take them home and treat them with the proper care they deserve.

The owners call it a "nostalgia store from Cubao X". True to their words, UVLA Store sells…read morepre-loved vintage items; but not exclusively though. The whole shop is an air-conditioned treasure trove of all things old and lovely, and some local artworks and prints thrown in. That's where I got my sticker set designed by Yas Doctor, one of my favorite artists. I like that they put a jar of candy near the entrance so you have something to munch on while spazzing over all the finds you can... well, find. If you're a lover of toy figures from the previous century, you can go there. If you're an avid matchbox collector, they got you covered. The prices, though, depend. They got postcards that you can get for as low as Php 40, or maybe even lower, and then the newer art stuff they offer are priced around Php 100. The sticker set I got was around Php 150, which was well worth it.

For too…read morelong, I was content with artificial indoor plants made in China, which are usually poorly-made and too fanciful. But just recently, I had finally seen the light, so to speak, after I discovered Ingarden Philippines. Ingarden is a European brand, specifically Portuguese. It specializes in artificial flowers and plants and other home decorations like Christmas ornaments. It has partnered with a local holiday décor manufacturer and opened up a standalone shop in Quezon City in December 2013. Shortly after their inauguration, word about the shop rapidly caught fire within celebrity circles. A handful of big shot showbiz personalities bought their Christmas decorations that year from Ingarden, thanks to the shop's realistic trees, new wave designs (black gothic Christmas decors, anyone?), and charming pieces. Today, the shop enjoys word-of-mouth promotion from satisfied customers. And boasting over 1,000 different varieties of artificial flowers and plants, it now occupies a high place in the hearts of many celebrities and interior designers. My only complaint is their pricing, which tends to be mostly expensive. Imagine a life-size replica of a coconut fruit going for around PHP 2,000.00. It sure is expensive. But when it comes to quality and appeal of their products, you have nothing to worry about. Just ask Sharon Cuneta, Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero (interviewed at the shop by Jessica Soho), and Kris Aquino, among other personalities.

Most people know Muji as a Japanese store that offers household items, clothes, notebooks, pens,…read moreand other supplies. They are known for selling quality goods at an affordable price. What most people don't know is Muji is actually a great place to buy make-up. I don't really know a lot about make-up, but I have been using concealer and foundation for a while now to cover most of my dark spots, dark circles, and small blemishes on some areas of my face. I have already tried using Garnier and Clinique Advanced Concealer, but I am just not happy with it. I can't seem to find the perfect Garnier concealer that would match my skin tone and Clinique is just too expensive for me (relying on your parents for money is not easy). I like the Muji concealer because it doesn't clump and it actually matches my skin tone. It's also really affordable. You can buy it for less than 1000 pesos. They also have eyeliners, eye shadows, blush, and brushes so make sure to check Muji out if you're the type of person who just can't live without make-up. PS: I am NOT a make-up expert AT ALL, but I think I know enough about concealers for me to make a review about it (LOL)

I also love the packaging of the products here - the logo is not really seen and the look of it sticker labels are so clean. I always like going to Muji to buy pens and notebooks! I usually hoard them (I don't know why but I could easily go back to the store right) and well my cabinet still has unused notebooks as of to date. I also like going to Muji to check out the foldable travel bags and other travel accessories. I actually use Muji bags when I travel because they're very light and functional. My friends say the snacks here are also good - now that I have yet to try out! I'm really glad that there are a lot of Muji branches all over Manila.
