Of all the years that I've lived here it's my first time!! Tourists really get a kick out of this place. IntErior totally takes you to another era. Service is excellent despite the very high table turn over. There are even benches out front for people too wait. Food wise I have to try their asparagus chicken cheese bread and their cottage pie!!! Really good!! The jam n scones?? Which is what they're known for.. IMHO not the best bUt give it a go and make up ur own mind.

Apparently this place is popular on Lonely Planet (whatever that is) and people line up for hours to eat. Personally I wasn't impressed. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes but then they shouldn't be offered on the menu if they're not good. I started with the mushroom soup. The consistency was perfect, but the flavor was lacking completely. Even La Madeleine in the states tastes better. I make an even better cream of mushroom soup at home. I also ordered the cottage pie. This was the most sour cottage pie I have ever eaten, and I've had a fair amount in my lifetime. I only took a few bites. Maybe I should've ordered the open faced fingers but I wasn't in the mood for sandwiches and paying $16 for this. I thought I'd get a better value with the cottage pie, but maybe I was wrong. My cousin ordered the fish and chips and said they were alright but nothing spectacular. I think I'll skip this place next time!

    Love the homey cottage ambiance.

When I first set foot into this place, it cheered me up. The wall-to-wall Christmas decorations greeted you festively and a fireplace dimly lit the dark wooden space. The whole ambiance of this place is truly exceptional. It reminds me of dining in a cozy cottage during the winter months. Feels like I'm having Christmas in July! Per the waitress' suggestions, I had the fish and chips but they were horrible! The fish was soggy and tasteless, so were the fries. The scones, however were quite good, not the best, but spread it with their homemade jam and cream...it became heavenly! We also ordered their ice cream sundae, and it was HUGE, but delicious nonetheless. Service was excellent and this is a great place for relaxing while eating but don't expect anything out of the ordinary taste, just a comforting afternoon tea and snacks while visiting Dandenong.

I heard a lot of good things from this little place, and yes, ok it's not too bad. Very touristic place, but it's better than I expected, I had a small meal, some kind of welsh (cheddar on toast) which was not bad but not amazing. They offer a lot of cakes, and differents teas, but I had to go for the sundae... which is absolutely ... giant. It's the godzilla of sundaes (and I ate him all, take that godzilla) Ok it's just a sundae, it was good, but not enough for a fourth star. But it's sure is a good little place to have a break after a hike !

Who says you have to travel all the way to England to have Devonshire tea? Escape to the solitude of the hills and indulge in traditional Devonshire tea at Miss Marple's tea room. Try the traditional Devonshire scones - bakes fresh and accompanied with delicious home-made rasberry jam and lashings of freshly whipped cream. It's a must to enjoy a soothing cup of tea with your scones. For those who need something savoury, try the smoked salmon, egg, cheese and caper fingers or the champagne ham, English cheddar and chutney fingers. Other favourites include the quiche lorraine and chicken cottage pie. Just keep in mind that Miss Marples is somewhat of an institution in the area so either go early (try 11am) for morning tea or have a late afternoon tea (3pm) to avoid the crowds. What ever time you choose, you cannot leave without at least trying the light, springy scones at Miss Marples.

Open seven days 11am-4.30pm, Miss Marples Tea Room in Sassafras is well known as the place to go in the hills for the best scones and tea. On any given day there will be a number of people crammed into the little room decadently decorated in lace tablecloths, gossamer curtains and little picture frames on the walls. I love going there on cold days however so does everybody else so you will want to secure yourself a table by booking ahead. Prices there are awesome - between $5.50 to $16 per dish. The best deal is by far the Devonshire Scones (the main reason everyone goes there) at around $9. You get to choose out of two plain, two fruit or one of each and these get delivered to your table in a little linen lined basket. The scones themselves are everything their reputation made them out to be and I was pleasantly surprised. They look quite small but they are really filling so don't over-order! I've never had any of their other dishes as I cannot tear myself away from the temptation of the scones but I have seen some pretty nice pies float past on the way to other tables. As a non-tea drinker I can't comment on their tea but my Mum says it's pretty fantastic. (Does that count?) Overall, the atmosphere in Miss Marples Tea Room is just awesome and the food is the type that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Like a little piece of England plonked into the hills, this place is a haven from rainy days and a delightful place to catch up with friends.

My local friend drove me here. As I dunno how to drive it would be quite hard for me to get here from the city centre. There is long queue during weekend and it took us like an hour to get in. This little hut is warmed with bonfire and soon it get quite hot if sitting close to the fireplace. As we have lunch already, we are quite stuffed to try the giant sundae. Instead we ordered 2 sets of scones, tea and fries. The scone is quite different from the usual ones, it looks like bread and is much softer, but still very rich and buttery (yummy!) The best is instead the raspberry jam, I put thick layer of it and cream to go with the scone which is indulging! Bought a big bottle back to Hong Kong too~

Possibly one of the most famous tea houses around. But I must admit I'm not a fan of the scones here. Instead of being a traditional scones which are round in shape, and have a dense yet fluffy consistency, these are more like rectangular sponge cake fingers. Yep, they're actually cut into rectangles. How bizarre. Putting aside the shape, the texture is actually too soft and light. Scones are naturally a little heavier than most cakes, and I don't think Miss Marples' is dense enough. I have to say I much prefer Churinga café nearby.

The Devonshire scones and Miss Marples favourite tea!

This is a tourist trap. Food is way overpriced and the rudest, unfriendly staff ever.

So the teas are good. I remember my first visit here about 6 years ago and buying over 10 different…read moreteas because I was so excited by the sheer volume and variance of teas available. But then I took all my tea home and the magic of the store left my body and I was like 'why did I just buy all this tea?!' Don't get me wrong, if you're a tea lover then this place is worth the journey to explore. Staff are helpful and you'll want to spend ages in the shop. But I feel this place has become a tourist trap. Nothing is sacred in the Yarra Ranges anymore and its overrun with bus loads of people coming here to smell some tea. It's easy to get caught up in the hype but in reality, its a tea shop. There are plenty around Melbourne that don't require such a drive and I don't have to brave mass crowds to get some damn tea. On a recent trip to Melbourne I returned to tea leaves and the magic didn't work. I was actually not in need of tea, and with the crowds of people scrambling around I could not get out quickly enough. They've increased in notoriety of the years and it makes me sad for actual tea lovers who just. want. to. get. some. tea. Unless you're willing to fight for parking, wait and hour to get into Mrs Marples and spend that hour squished inside tea leaves, it hardly seems worth it anymore.

Winner of nine tourism awards and operating for seventeen years the shop itself is very impressive with items I have not seen anywhere else - definitely a must-visit for any tea lovers out there. You won't want to carry any bags in here because it is very easy to knock things over. The store itself is very cluttered with plain shelving that reaches up to the roof and every shelf packed full with a variety of teapots in every shape, size, colour and even facial expression. My favourite was a little Martian teapot that at $72 was a little out of my price range but was very cute none-the-less. As well as the hundreds of incredible teapots there was also tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits available for purchase. The chocolates looked absolutely gorgeous and the coffee impressive in big glass jars lining the counter. There was an A4 poster on the wall with tea facts written on it which was pretty groovy - definitely check that out if you want to learn something new. The service here was a little lax as despite the bell ringing to signal my entrance no one greeted me at all. The first time I saw a staff member was to excuse myself as I passed her in one of the narrow aisles. It wasn't very impressive in that regard. Tea Leaves is open from 10-5.30 every single day of the year except for Christmas and is a great place to get a signature teapot for you or for a fun gift for a friend.

On a wet summers day the mist was rolling in so it made it all the more pretty. Everything about the cafe is thought thru, from the bakery to finishing touches of the decor. Our waiter was efficient and had a great sense of humour. He certainly made it all the more memorable. The drinks came quickly followed by our delicious meals. We were there for breakfast but there is everything from buying a loaf of bread and toasting it yourself, pastries to the purchase of three different sized picnic baskets. And if the salads on display are anything to go by I'll certainly be back to order one and stroll through their gardens. They are currently expanding the gardens. But there is plenty to do! From lawn bowls, children's play areas, picnic area and meet bubble and squeak the residents of the pig sty. I couldn't recommend the Piggery Cafe enough. I will certainly be back. I could imagine that it will get busy on the weekends if during the week was anything to go by - so be prepared. Happy eating.

One of the few places in Melbourne that cooks burgers to order, but unfortunately we ordered medium rare and it arrived well done. Still tasty though! The trout, however, was genuinely AMAZING. Succulent and cooked to perfection on a hot grill. Chips were golden and crispy with a rosemary salt, really good. The sausage and pickles were delicious. There's no phone signal (for us anyway) so it's a rare chance to fully focus without the temptation of peeking at the phone. The meals took a fair stint to arrive, but we weren't there for fast food and the location is incredibly beautiful so it was a nice chance to stop and breathe. Speaking of breathing - we were seated outside, and every time the wind gusted our way there was a waft of .... I don't know what. Sewage? Pigs? Something on the septic side of the scent spectrum (I know, pure poetry). It wasn't pleasant so I removed a star for that.
