Our son attended Bert & Ernie's Preschool in Dixon from the time he was 4 months old until age 3,…read moreso our family was part of this school community for nearly 3 yrs. During that time, he successfully transitioned through every classroom. When he moved to blue room, which has a much more structured environment, he struggled with the adjustment. Like many toddlers learning new classroom expectations, he had difficulty following directions at times. During one incident, a teacher physically picked up my son while redirecting him and he reacted by hitting the teacher. We were shown a video of this interaction during a meeting with the owner and staff. At that same meeting, the owner informed us that our son could no longer continue in the program, stating he was not developmentally ready for classroom structure despite being in their care since he was 4 months old. This was extremely disappointing after trusting this school with our child since infancy. We expected the school to work with us on a behavior plan or transition support rather than abruptly ending his enrollment. We later requested written documentation of the termination and received a letter from the director stating that we voluntarily withdrew our son, which is not accurate. The decision for him to leave the program was made by the owner. Since leaving, our son has transitioned to another daycare and is doing very well, which suggests that the issue may have been more about the environment than his ability to participate in a structured class. Parents should be aware of how behavioral challenges during classroom transitions may be handled. I hope the school reviews how situations like this are handled in the future so that families whose children are adjusting to new classroom expectations receive support rather than immediate removal from the program.

Yet a mother of a little posted about a boy biting her online and berated that little boy talking bad about a 2yr old. How ridiculous is this "daycare" if you can call it that. They let the kids hit each other they dont care. One kid hit my nephew on the head so hard he had a knot and a bruise. But we let it go, hoping it was an accident. Guess its not and the rules are only for a few of the parents and not the ones getting help by the state.

The teachers are the sweetest, they really care about the kids and what they do and they have a great program with lots of outside play time and educational curriculum as well as fun activities. The center and the program are definitely a preschool and not just a daycare. Vicki and the rest of the staff are all so caring, loving and professional. They truly love what they do and treat everyone with respect. They have handled staffing challenges as well as they can (and anyone can in this weird environment) and I have no complaints about it. The facility is amazing, clean and has lots of fun indoor and outdoor activities for the kids. They do a lot of fun, special days (pajama day, Dr. Seuss week, etc) and have a great communication system for the parents. I would absolutely recommend Millennium for any age child and I have always been someone who scrutinizes and does my due diligence on a program before we decide to send out child there.

Our son looks forward to going to school every single day because of how great the program is. I would highly recommend to any family.

I'm sharing my personal experience as a parent…read more During a recent drop-off, an adult staff member approached and brought the children inside without introducing herself. When I asked the children afterward who she was, they were unable to identify her. There was no direct communication with me during that interaction. From my perspective, I would expect clearer identification of staff and more consistent communication during child handoff, especially in a childcare setting where safety and transparency are important. In my experience, the interaction felt rushed and left me uncertain about the process being followed at the time. Every family may have a different experience, but I believe clear introductions and communication during drop-off and pick-up are important for maintaining trust.

I won't mention the issues because they are shocking. I tried to address issues and the new principal. She did not even show up to the meeting. This teacher is the new pastors wife of the church there, so this is why she was hired. I loved the old neighborhood! We have had amazing teachers until now. I see this school shrinking. There is a reason god is not blessing this school to overflowing with children. If you are looking for a good quality Christian School with factual biblical teaching, I'm afraid this is not the right place for you. I will try to leave this on a good note and say the preschool & kindergarten are great!

Kelly could not set that up. But asked me for a multi-year commitment before I even had a chance to see if the school might be a good fit. It wasn't the only problem, but the the strangest. In my mind that sums everything up. A school with a sense of importance above the children and families they serve. It is not unusual for a school such as this to have this attitude. It is simple disappointing. Remember, if the person set up to interact with you when making an enrollment decision is unhelpful and inexperienced, think what the kids will get. Enrollment for the first time should be the honeymoon period.

We had our son at L'Academy for nearly two years…read more His one year-old care was exceptional, and the school facility itself is brand new and clean, with bright happy colors, and some wonderful people. The school looks very appealing. Unfortunately, there has been much turnover within the staff, to varying degrees of quality. Recent months have proved very concerning. There has been a lack of control surrounding gun-related content among the children, which I never thought could be an issue at a preschool. One child had very specific, graphic violent language (my initial review included a few of his phrases and was flagged by Yelp). This child told me he was making guns from legos, and said other deeply alarmingly violent things to other children, observed by staff. We and other parents expressed our concerns over this issue for months on end, and the staff hemmed and hawed and sat on their hands. Many meetings were offered, but there was no corrective action taken. We left because we wanted to protect our child from gun-related content, but there were other issues. Despite touting otherwise, there is no "curriculum", no learning goals established week to week or month to month. The plan seems to be to survive the day, understandably. We had hoped for more kindergarten preparation, and less "daycare" as our son got older and more capable. There also was not one, but two, separate instances of teachers posting pictures of students to their personal Instagram accounts, obviously without parental consent. This school looks super sweet, but optics deceived us, as there clearly is no global plan. Every childcare facility will have its issues, and there will always be other families and staff members with different values than you - but it's up to the school to ensure there is a safe learning environment, which this school failed at, in our experience.

I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about this preschool/daycare! My search for…read morethe right place for my children was incredibly stressful like many parents, I'm very particular about who I trust with my kids. When I came across L'Academy, I called to ask a few questions, and they immediately offered to schedule a tour so I could see if it was the right fit for our family. The moment I walked in, I knew this was the place for us! My daughter started at L'Academy when she was just over a year old in the baby room. She had never been cared for by anyone other than me or her father, so naturally, we both cried that first day. But the staff handled everything with such warmth and care. They welcomed her with so much love that her tears disappeared within seconds -- and mine soon followed. One of my favorite things about L'Academy is the parent app. It keeps us updated throughout the day with details on meals, nap times, diaper changes, and even adorable photos of our little ones (shared securely only with parents). Now, my daughter is over two and in the toddler room, and her development has been amazing. Her speech and knowledge have grown tremendously -- she can sing her ABCs, count to 20, and even count to 10 in Spanish! (Neither her father nor I speak Spanish, so I know she learned that from her wonderful teachers!) The staff is incredibly attentive and proactive. If there's ever a minor incident, they immediately intervene and document everything in the app for parents. I recently enrolled my second daughter, who is now six months old, and this time there were no tears at all -- from either of us! It's such a relief knowing both my babies are in a loving, safe, and nurturing environment while I'm at work. As parents, we all know how hard it is to entrust someone else with our children. As an admittedly overprotective mom, I can confidently say L'Academy has been the perfect place for our family. The teachers are truly amazing, kind-hearted, patient, and full of genuine love for these kids. Seeing the way they interact with the children often brings tears to my eyes. My daughter talks about her teachers constantly and how much she loves them. Thank you to the incredible staff at L'Academy for caring for my babies as if they were your own, and for giving this anxious mom such peace of mind. You are all truly a blessing!
