To be honest, we didn't know about this museum or organization. We had signed up for a "Skip the Line" tour of the Duomo, and a visit to this museum was included. This was our last day in Florence, and we were a little tired from all the walking we've done the past week, and the weather was getting warm (May 2019) so we decided to check it out.
It's a very compact museum, especially compared to the other museums. Most everything on display is about the charitable/not-for-profit organization that started centuries ago, from the time of the plague, which eventually became what is now the city's first responders. Fun fact: instead of "ambulance" (or "ambulanza") you'll see "misericordia" on the emergency vehicles.
The museum is air-conditioned, the infrastructure is well-maintained, and the staff are professional and courteous. The building is in the Duomo courtyard and you can see the cathedral building quite close and personal from the second/third floor. You can read the history of the organization via the exhibits and from the handout that the staff will ask you to return before you exit (excellent reuse policy, probably because they know tourists will only chuck it aside). read more
