Michelle Merson can try to deny that I was her client, like she does to all of her negative reviews, but I have a photo of our Client-Attorney Contract- signed and dated by both Attorney Michelle Merson and myself. While Michelle Merson is personable at first during the consultation, after the initial consult and hiring, she is near impossible to get a hold of or to even get her to respond back to calls, emails and text messages, even when marked "Urgent" or "Extremely Urgent." Furthermore, I found it odd that Attorney, Michelle Merson could not work any case without the supervision of a partner attorney, who is equally as hard to get a hold of. This made her seem highly incompetent in taking any cases on her own. She is also certainly NOT for women's rights. My case was an assault case in which I was the victim, and Merson's unprofessionalism, insensitivity, and lack of due diligence was beyond disappointment. Michelle Merson even had the audacity to show up at a separate hearing that I had going on with a different attorney on a completely separate case and sit in on the hearing without my consent, only for me to later find out that the opposing counsel (from me) was not just her very close friend but lives in her same building- this seems an invasion of privacy and highly unethical to not disclose! Especially beforehand! My biggest issue with Michelle Merson was that it would take weeks (oftentimes 2-4 weeks) to get any response from her, even at urgent times, like being at the local Police Department to identify my assaulter in a lineup. As said, she is not for women's rights, nor an advocate for civil rights. She is not adequate as an attorney, always needing to consult and get permission from partner attorneys to take a case, which is something to be weary of. She lacks the experience to take any case on her own. I want to warn everyone not just in Boca Raton, but in Fort Lauderdale/Miami, covering Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties! Don't let the consultation fool you. She is a whole other person once hired and working with her and when she is uncomfortable discussing a subject, she can't even handle responding to the client (me) herself, but instead leaves it to her assistant. This is not the kind of experience you expect when you are going through an important case and need a strong and confident attorney- Michelle Merson is not it. Her lack of response violates the Florida Bar's requirement that an active attorney contact their client within 48 hours or notify them within a week as to why they were unable to be reached. Now her business partner, Attorney, Guy Fronstin, bombards me with messages to remove my review, which is against terms of service. She blames her family circumstances on the lack of communication when they didn't occur until after we stopped working together and she and her office have STILL yet to provide all of my files after several requests over months, which is my right to get a copy of under the Florida Bar! The worst attorney I have ever encountered. She was very timid of the judge. She also postponed my court hearing 8 times. Obviously this delayed the entire process which in turn delayed everything for almost a year.She did not show up to my last appearance, leaving an attorney to close that had no idea of what was going on. That attorney asked me during court in front of a very noticeable irritated judge. And even when michelle was in court it was as if she no clue nor knowledge of what was going on with my case. Apparently, Michelle trolls 'Boca Busted' and 'Delray Busted' to find recent arrests and mug shots. She then befriends her prospective client on Facebook by coming across as concerned and caring. She lets you into her Facebook 'life' leading one (at an emotionally vulnerable time) to assume she's genuinely interested in helping and she can be trusted. WRONG!! This was my first time being placed under arrest and I had no idea of the proper legal steps and procedures. I found out later from other attorneys that Michelle apparently made mistakes, took shortcuts, and got things wrong. It seems that all Michelle wants is her retainer fee and to plea out a deal with the State Prosecutor. She doesn't want to do any "work". And if you want an itemized bill, detailing her services, she will refuse to provide one. Sometime after my case had been adjudicated, I was informed that it's standard procedure to call for depositions. Michelle did not. This is standard procedure because if an accuser fails to report for depositions the case can be dropped. Additionally, Michelle apparently didn't perform due diligence on the arresting officer. Again, following my day in court, I found out this officer has (at best) a tarnished record. He has been found guilty of 'Excessive Use of Force' and had a $22 million judgment levied against him. This for shooting and paralyzing (for life) an unarmed man. This officer also has numerous Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department 'Early Intervention System' flags on his record. I am a 43 year old college educated professional, continuously employed by a large corporation for over 13 years. Prior to this arrest, I had never been in legal trouble. On Michelle's advice I did accept a plea offer that was ridiculous considering I was a 'First Time Offender'. Going before the judge I did most of the talking. In effect, I represented myself to the court. The judge was considerate and gave me two additional breaks at sentencing that Michelle failed to seek in my original plea deal. I have to say this arrest and the subsequent court case was one of the worst experiences in my life. Do your homework before hiring any lawyer, but be especially cautious with this one. read more
