I have to be clear about my rating , expectations and experience. I rate this place at 3.5 stars . It's a cute cute place , perfect ambiance for High tea. I usually go to tea places for the experience and not necessarily the food as most of the time food falls short . That's exactly what happened today. I loved the service, ambience, tea but food was meh. Savory items could work if they were not served on very dry bread. If only bread was slightly toasted the experience would be much better . Sweet items were mediocre, not very fresh in my opinion . I didn't care for them . I'm not quite sure if I would come again... maybe... If you're looking for the experience I recommend it. But if you count on good food you should probably pass.

What a wonderful place to visit for all the family and the high tea is well worth having!

Firstly I'd give a 3.5. The service is great everyone working here is super friendly. The castle is also amazing!! Super cute outside and cute shops around the area. The reason it's a 3.5 is because the food is pretty bad. I've been to other tea times that were very very good with sweet and savory aspects. I would even return to Miramont it just unfortunately wouldn't be fair to the other places i've been to put them into the 4 category. Still great experience and would even return for a themed tea.

We stopped in for a tour and had a good time. The house is huge and the self-guided tour was educational and the information sheet was easy to follow. There are a lot of interesting things packed away in the house, so take the time to read the sheet. Entry was a reasonable price and we were able to park immediately nearby in the small lot to the left of the entrance. Be sure to take photos out in front of the house. I wasn't interested in the tea party, but after seeing it from a distance and hearing about the food, I'm going to look into it with the kids. The gift shop had a lot of random stuff and I ended up buying a BBQ sauce. Overall the house was interesting and I'd recommend it if you have some time and are in the area.

Pricey for the quality of food. The bread/pastry dough GF options were not good. The toppings on the savory were tasty but overall the food was not worth the cost. The ambiance was nice and our server was attentive.

This is an interesting place that is full of history. The 14,000 square feet castle was built in 1895 by Father Jean Baptist Francolon, a French-born Catholic priest. It was placed on the National Historic Register in 1976 and is rumored to be haunted. It looks like the castle is a work in progress. On a side note, what is the difference between a castle and a mansion. I think this is more of a mansion, but what do I know. There are two private lots to park at, one up top and one down in the front. In addition to the self guided tour of the castle, they offer tea parties, but that requires a reservation. I just did the tour. The admission price goes to the maintenance and restoration of the house. The house itself has a hodgepodge of exhibits. They give you a paper to help guide you on your tour and most rooms have a poster on the walls that provides some context for the rooms. On the first floor you will find an exhibit featuring the town's fire fighting history and vintage fire equipment. Once you head upstairs, you will go through about 14 furnished rooms of the house that include a chapel, a bedroom, a kitchen, a grand staircase, and an office. This is where you get a real feel off how big the house really is. In a room off to the side, amount the main rooms of the house, you will find a small exhibit that features the twelfth Nuremberg trial, which was presided over by Colorado Springs' own John C. Young. Additionally, you will find a WWII exhibit, and a Manitou Springs bottle exhibit in the main house. On the top floor is where you will find the gift shop and a few other exhibits such as a shoe that was found in a wall of the house, some materials used in building the house and an anchor that connects the house to the mountain. The tour ends in the gift shop, where you exit and are free to tour the garden which is well maintained during spring and summer months. This tour is ok, more so, for history buffs. I felt they filled the house with a lot of unrelated stuff for the sake of filling it. The proceeds of admission does support the castle. If you are in the area and have a little hole in your itinerary to fill, then this place is definitely worth some consideration. .

High Tea reservation. Service and attention to detail was great. Food was fantastic ~ more than expected. Doors do not open for seating until the reservation time. If you have individuals that need assistance you should drop them off at the front door. My company had to walk down quite a few steps since I had to park at the top of the castle. If you want to tour the castle after your tea experience that's an additional cost incurred. I would return with visitors again in the future.

Such a cool place. The castle and tour, coupled with the tea room, definitely make this place worth visiting. I really enjoyed reading all the details about each room in the castle. So many times I've visited a castle and there is not much interesting about the room or I am left wondering about the castle. They did a good job highlighting what was in each room and the history behind it. We spent about an hour doing the self guided tour. We really enjoyed the High Tea at the end of our tour. This was a separate cost and requires a reservation. The High Tea was pretty filling and the food was delicious! The staff was very nice and everything was put out nicely. In total we spent about 3 hours here.

We enjoyed our self-guided tour of the home. The woman at the front desk greeted us and gave us a little information along with a map that contained information on each room in the castle. This home of a former priest was built for himself and his mother, and later used by nuns. The caretakers of this castle have done an amazing job with restorations and placing information throughout the home to learn about the style of the room, its use, and the people who lived there. It was all very fascinating. It took us about two hours but we would have stayed longer if we didn't have to catch a flight. We didn't stay for tea, but it looks like that would have been a fun experience as well. I recommend this stop if you have any interest in history at all and you're looking for something to do for a few hours!

This thing really creeped me out.

We love visiting stately old homes and manors when we travel, this one being billed as a castle only increased our interest for our trip to Denver. Sadly it was quite a letdown. I imagine that a guided tour would have made all the difference, or if the organization stepped up their signage to explain the significance of the items in the rooms or how the rooms use had changed throughout the years. Without these explanations, there was no weight to the artifacts and no compelling storyline to drive you through the estate. The woman at the front desk seemed as though she was too good to be serving us, though I preferred her staying where she was rather than serving as a tour guide. You begin with a bizarre firefighting museum in the lower levels before ascending to the house itself. The sheet you are given does explain each of the rooms in brief, but again, the lack of details doesn't inspire wonder in the home. If I had it to do over, I probably would have skipped the castle and spent more time walking around Manitou Springs as that seemed much more interesting overall.

First, let me say I wanted the high tea, but whoever took my reservation over the phone booked me for something different. The scones were served warm, and the food was delicious. The tea selection was ok. They have a selection of tea hats that children can choose from and put on during tea. The children enjoyed that, and it made for some cute photos. Bring your card! Online it says contactless pay is accepted, so I left my card and wallet because my dress didn't have pockets. I found while I was there that they do not allow tap to pay. They were able to run the payment from my saved card, but it was unnecessarily awkward. After tea, the girls and I wanted to take a tour of the castle, so we went to inquire about tours at the front desk. There are many Yelp reviews that mention the attitude of the lady at the front desk, and I wish I had paid attention to them. Her rudeness and demeanor were shameful, especially for an establishment people might visit with their children to practice their manners. I teach my girls that etiquette is based on respectful conduct, and she utterly undermines this idea every time she speaks. Ownership, after years of negative yelp reviews about this lady, continues to allow her to treat customers like garbage, and that basically sums up why you should probably spend your time and money driving to a polite tea house in Denver instead of patronizing Miramont Castle for tea.

HOWEVER, I noticed around lunch time spaces open up. So if you're wanting to plan it where you don't have to park in Manitou Springs then walk all the way up, go during lunch! My experience started rocky, pun intended. We arrive at 9:15 not knowing they didn't open until 10 and that's when we noticed there's hardly any parking spots inside that gate. My mom had already tried to visit 3 times before this most recent but didn't have time to wait for a spot to open, so she had to leave. Anyway, the Rainbow Falls attendant came out and told us to drive around until 10 and come back. Which we did. And when we came back, right at 10, every spot was taken as we knew would happen. It was frustrating at first. After we backed out, we decided to find a spot in town and just walk, mind you had a five year old with us and didn't know if she would be able to hang it there. It was also getting in the 90s, super hot. Thankfully, we all had brought water bottles so we were able to hike it. It really was a beautiful walk, at times there's weren't sidewalks so we had to walk in the road with traffic. There's also construction going on, a bit of a mess but we made the best of it and decided to soak in the nature! Once we reached the Falls, BEAUTIFUL!!! It was very cold and I would recommend wearing crocs or shoes you can walk in the water with, there's rocks that will hurt. For us, it was perfect since we were hiking up and down the mountain to get to/from our vehicle, so the water felt great and refreshing. We came on a Saturday right as they opened, perhaps during the week might be better, parking wise? If hiking sounds like your ideal thing, then DO ITTTT. Plan to pay for parking in town and take your time walking, it's worth it :)

The cliff dwellings are incredible to see up close. They're modeled after ancient Ancestral Puebloan structures (often associated with Southwest tribes like the Navajo), and walking through them really gives you a sense of how people lived long ago. One thing that stood out to me was seeing how small the doorways and rooms were -- it really shows how much shorter people were back then!
