Quick, Professional, and Efficient DOT Physical…read more Had a DOT physical scheduled at MedCare Urgent Care and couldn't have been more impressed with how smoothly everything went. My appointment was set for 8:06am -- I was seen promptly at 8:15am and walking out the door by 8:56am. Less than an hour, start to finish! The staff was courteous and well-organized, and the provider conducting the physical was thorough yet efficient. If you're a commercial driver needing a DOT physical, I highly recommend MedCare -- they respect your time and deliver exactly what's needed.

The doctor or PA at MEDcare spent a total of thirty seconds with me and felt extremely dismissive. I was sent home with eye drops and an oral prescription. 24 hours later my eye had tripled in size, was oozing yellow liquid, and I couldn't see out of it. I went to another local doctor, and within a minute of looking at me, I was rushed to the hospital due to orbital cellulitis. I was one day away from this infection spreading to my brain, and had to stay at the hospital on IV antibiotics. This wasn't my first time at MEDcare. Every time I've been it feels like I'm an inconvenience and they get you out as quickly as they possibly can, even if it means being misdiagnosed or overlooked. Save yourself some pain (pun intended) and go somewhere else that actually wants you to get better. This place should be shutdown for malpractice.

MEDICAL BILLING FRAUD…read more Charged $388 for a standard annual well-woman exam that should've been free. I had to pay $388 out-of-pocket to avoid the bill (that I should never have received) going to collections. MUSC said I should be reimbursed eventually, but over a month has gone by. According to my health insurance company, MUSC has not taken any action to resolve the issue. Fraudulent billing. PSA: All women with health insurance are entitled to free annual well-woman exams under the Affordable Care Act. The exam needs to be billed correctly as preventative care.

Some healthcare facilities here clearly just push patients through and you barely get 5 minutes of the doctor's time. You won't get that at Carnes Crossroads Primary Care, or any MUSC facility for that matter. Dr. Bigelow was highly recommended to us. He has very good bedside manner and I appreciate that he actually takes the time to listen to what is going on. Plus the MUSC MyChart app is very useful for tracking test results and for communicating with your healthcare team. The only problem that I have is that everyone else in the area must be going here too because it's near impossible to get a same day appointment. I was told if you are sick you can almost always get an appointment same or next day, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. For example, my son has a possible infection and called 8am Monday morning to schedule an appointment and the earliest they could see him was Wednesday at 4pm. So it's kind of a catch 22: you'll great health care here but only if they have the time to see you. Even with that, I highly recommend going here.

That said, I literally haven't seen such horrible parking options for anywhere this far out from the main part of the city. Not only is parking horrible, but many spaces don't accommodate SUVs as in you'll hit other cars opening the door, even when both are parked perfectly in the lines. In other words, be prepared to make a little walk. Next, I'd advise getting there early. I had an appointment at 8:30 and when I was done, exiting the lobby at 9:30, it was packed. As for precheck-in I highly advise filling out everything at home before coming in as it will drastically speed up the process. The lady at the desk was extremely nice but it took 15 minutes past my appointment to be called back and I was 10 minutes early. The nurse was extremely nice and we had a good conversation while she conducted her work; she made me feel "at home." Btw, they need to deep clean the place. Mold is on the ceiling tiles by the ac vents, cracks in the walls and dirty carpets which I've literally never seen at any PCP before and I've lived everywhere. I mention that b/c elderly with colds might be vulnerable to such things. Also, I found giving blood there takes a bit of time. However I'm happy to report I have difficult veins and after feeling around for a while, the tech hit it on her first try. It might be me as I just moved back to SC but things just run slower here. As for my doctor Rochelle Elayda I found her very knowledgeable while being straightforward and receptive to suggestions based on my previous doctors. Moreover, she's quick to respond to questions and concerns via the website. I do appreciate the fact she went through all my history and a previous lab panel in setting a baseline health check with her. She gives the impression she cares and that I was in good hands. This is a difficult review b/c my mother also utilizes this doctor. I asked her about writing this review and she responded "you better not write that" while my thoughts are "I always write in honestly and love which perhaps good things will grow from it." We both profess Dr. Rochell Elayda is a perfectly suitable, capable and gifted physician, there are other aspects of my visit that's beyond her control - ie the office manager, that need a little TLC. It boils down to the doctor which is outstanding so I suggest starting with her when making your decision on if this is the place for you.

I've been seen here 3 times all last year. I've paid all my bills off but yet continue to get letters in the mail stating my account is past due and they will be sending me to collections. When this first happened around the holidays I called to see what was happening. I was informed by the billing department that my account was paid and at a zero balance and they were unsure why I was getting letters. They told me to disregard the letters so that's what I did knowing I had paid everything off months ago. Flash forward to this week I get another threatening letter in the mail stating my account is once again past due and going to collections for an appointment I had in February of 2025 that I had already paid and I had the receipts to prove it. When I called back the billing department told me they didn't have any payments on their end and my insurance company keeps denying the claims. They said I need to take it up with my insurance. So that's exactly what I did. I called my insurance and they informed me that the doctors office keeps billing for the same services over and over. They said they will pay the claim and it will be accepted and then the clinic will issue a refund and bill the amount all over again. They have been doing this since February of 2025! They said even after paying they will run the same claim multiple times. I have NEVER had this happen at any other establishment. I get all the dates of when insurance paid these out and the statement of such and call Palmetto Primary Care back. When I confronted the billing agent about what is going on he tells me I need to calm down and just magically in the 15 minutes I was on the phone with my insurance company they were paid out by insurance at that exact moment. My insurance had paid them 10 days ago at the point and this man is straight up lying to my face saying it just now got paid and he can see all my payments from months ago and my account is now at zero. Excuse me? Well that's convenient because 15 minutes prior I never made any payments according to Palmetto and my insurance never paid anything. Interesting that once I hit him with all the paperwork and dates and confirmations the account is all paid up. This is not normal. How many people is this office doing this to and people are getting scared of going to collections and just paying it? I'm sorry but this smells like a scam. I asked him to send me my account statement reflecting all the payments and showing I'm at zero. This is ridiculous and just the tip of the iceberg. Don't even get me started with the incompetent providers they have working here. Please as a patient protect yourself from this establishment and go somewhere else.

My husband became alarmed and called and they told him he hadn't shown up for his appointment in the 4th and they would not reschedule another. He did not receive any texts or emails. I guess we won't be using this facility bc their office staff isn't efficient or helpful. I don't know if the doctor is good bc we never met.
