I was able to make a last minute appointment same-day which was truly clutch as other travel docs had nothing available for days. (Shame on me for waiting until the last second!) The building was relatively easy to find and the elevator took me nearly right to the front door of their suite. The waiting room has chairs spaced apart (likely still from COVID precautions) and was appreciated. Check-in was quite easy (a quick form on an iPad and a few questions on paper about the specific visit) though the front desk worker overcharged me. I sat in the waiting room for about 5 min past the scheduled appointment time but was called in right after which was refreshing as I know doctors often get backed up by the end of the day. The doctor himself was absolutely lovely! I mentioned where I was traveling and he was incredibly thorough with questions and determined I didn't need the yellow fever vaccine based on where I was going. He did prescribe a Z-Pak which was incredibly appreciated as I know others who did the same trip recommended it. He also had the front desk employee refund the overcharged amount. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone who needs a travel doctor and will absolutely be back ahead of my next trip!

I visited for a yellow fever vaccine, which involves a subcutaneous injection (administered into the fatty tissue beneath the skin). The injection site seemed a bit unusual (please see the attached picture), and later became inflamed, red, and swollen. I am planning to travel to Africa soon, and the doctor mentioned he would prescribe medication for traveler's diarrhea. However, when I went to the pharmacy, they gave me a prescription for malaria (something we had not discussed) and did not receive the Z-Pak prescription for traveler's diarrhea from the doctor's office. I had to return to the pharmacy the next day since they were closing.

You can easily find this location on West 14th street, 2 blocks away from Union Square. Upon arriving you're greeted by a very pleasant receptionist that will ask if you have an appointment or, are a walk in. I was a walk in, therefore I scanned the QR code at check in, which gives you electronic consent forms to fill out. The waiting area is very clean, no crowds, and esthetically pleasing to the eyes. The atmosphere and service gives you a comfortable, and relaxed feeling, especially with the beautiful art. After electronically filling out the forms, I was given an immediate appointment. My wait was barely five minutes. Went to the back, had my vitals taken. Doctor came in, within another 5 minutes. Had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Ira Owen whom was a kind Doctor, with excellent bedside manners. Felt like he was Superman, just needed a cape. After examining my hand, wrist, and elbow, the Doctor felt it was a terrible sprain. My thumb was put in brace, and I was given instructions on how to care for the sprain. My entire visit was probably under 35 minutes. Could not ask for a better medical experience. Definitely recommend City MD West 14th street location. Tip: If you need x-rays, call ahead to confirm which location has the mobile x-ray technician. To ensure you are not left inconvenienced.

They took vitals and a test then had me sit in an exam room for an hour. I felt forgotten as I could hear more patients being called back and staff laughing/chatting outside. There was no sense of 'urgency' to be seen. For the hefty co-pay I had, I expected a little more.

I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon before my throat had been KILLING me every time I swallowed, and I was fairly sure I had strep. Urgent Care and City MD both began at $150 + hundreds of dollars of test fees, and the internet is littered with horror stories of the staff there. Here, CVS' online price listing told me I'd probably be paying a $99 exam fee + a $30 strep test fee. (It turned out I had an additional $30 comprehensive strep test fee, but this was what ultimately told me I *did* have strep and is standard for strep testing.) I followed all of the signs to the second floor (way in the back), checked in on the touchscreen, and settled down in a comfy chair to wait. I was a little dismayed at first that there were 4 people ahead of me with an estimated wait of 98 minutes, but the system said it would text me when my wait time hit 30 minutes. Here was the only snag of the entire visit as no more than 10 minutes after I sat down, NP Carolyn poked her head out the door and started calling names. No one responded. "Is anybody here waiting for the minute clinic?" she finally asked. And lo, I was seen in just 10 minutes. Now. I have made it clear I love this place, but I also love this lady. At one point she complimented me on how my tonsils were "tremendous," and informed me that I wanted the "good [sudafed] they keep behind the counter, the stuff people make meth out of." Carolyn was responsive, caring, funny, and made me actually feel good about being there, if one could believe that about strep. As someone paying out of pocket, I appreciated that she was very upfront and clear about all of the costs. Later, when I got my follow up call from a different (equally wonderful) lady, I was scrambling to price check antibiotics and she was very understanding, offering to just call me back in 20 minutes so I wouldn't have to navigate their automated phone tree. She gave me more comprehensive information on treatment than any doctor ever has (remember to throw out your toothbrush!). Basically, even once I have insurance, I'd make this my first choice for sick visits like this. They rock!

Even when the waiting room is packed, I am seen within an hour. Everyone here is kind and helpful which is so important in an Urgent Care. The payment and billing is easy and no surprise fees like citXXX (iykyk). I most recently saw Dr Michael Paltzman who offered to see me anytime this week if my symptoms got worse which was beyond thoughtful of him. I never feel rushed talking to the providers or intake staff. They all take their time to explain the symptoms, treatment, medication and plan moving forward. I've gone for a little bit of everything and I highly recommend!

The clinic is spotless and comfortable, which immediately puts you at ease. But what truly sets MedRite apart is the staff's empathy and professionalism. Her bedside manner is flawless--she's kind, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and incredibly compassionate. In a field as demanding as healthcare, having someone like her makes all the difference.
