We had a blast on our venture to Minterbrook. My wife and I drove over from the Puyallup area after this place was recommended by a chef at All Water Seafood. It's a nice drive out to Gig Harbor, and the facility is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. The staff are so very friendly and the property is massive. Jake gave us a tour and shared the history of Minterbrook and the science behind an Oyster farm. Of course we ordered several different oysters, my favorite being the x-small Pacific's! Don't forget to grab your Minterbrook oyster shucking knife!

No question about five stars. This place ships oysters all over the world, to some of the most well-known restaurants. They grow the oysters, clams, geoduck right there at their facility. They are super friendly, and I mean super friendly, and the oysters we got from them were perfect in every way. We live in Gig Harbor, less than a 1/2 hour away and this will be a regular stop. So excited about this discovery.

My husband really wanted to visit an oyster farm during our most recent visit to Washington. And so we came by Minterbrook Oyster Farm on a Thursday afternoon to see what we could get. For parking, there is no designated parking lot, but several areas where you can park. We parked close by the main office area. After walking around a little bit (being a bit loss) we found an employee and told him we wanted to purchase some oysters. He pointed to this office and so we went in there and waited for a while. After another employee came to help us (I think this employee speaks better English than the other employee, which we are assuming that employee might have went to find this employee and asked him to help us), we ended up purchasing: 1 Dozen Medium Oysters, $10- These were pretty good and the size of the medium oysters were actually pretty big. The freshness of the oysters were excellent. My husband cooked these on a barbecue grill at Horseshoe Lake County Park (which is a few miles away) so that we could eat them. 1 Dozen Large Savory Clams, $4- The savory clams are $4 per pound and 1 dozen Manila clams are $5.75 per pound. But we got charged for the Manila clams instead of the Savory, paying an extra $1.75. We didn't realize this while we were there so be sure to check your receipt and avoid getting over charged like us. Anyways, my husband cooked these clams and they were tasty. The size of the clams (forgot to take a photo of the actual clams) were a pretty good size and definitely a good price for the amount (and yes, even at the overly priced charge too). ------------------------- (Total= Should have been $14 but because we were incorrectly charged, $15.75) In the office to purchase your seafood bounty, most likely there will not be an employee inside the office. There is a paper sign that suggest to ring the bell repeatedly to get someone's attention or to call someone on the numbers listed. Please note that this place is closed on Sundays and do not accept checks as payment. Also credit transactions require a minimum of $25. So bring cash if you plan on purchasing less.

This gem, family owned oyster farm is tucked away in the nestles of the backwoods and very much worth the trip! We were fortunate enough to catch the owners son Garrett who graciously toured us around his farm. As avid oyster connoisseur's, we were so very much excited taking a tour and seeing how oysters are farmed and cultivated. It was an amazing experience!Excited to visit a future restaurant serving Minterbrook raised oysters soon!

Had a fabulous experience at Minterbrook. Bought Kumomotos ($18/dozen) and extra small pacific oysters ($9/ dozen) grown by Minterbrook. Though they're not really a place to eat, Kelly went the the extra mile for us : he loaned us a shucking knife, lent us some chairs and a table, and gave us some education too! It made our day so special. And the oysters were delicious!! Definitely recommend.

Love!! Sweet dreams are made of shells!! Who am I to disagree!! On my weekend trip to gig harbor, this was my most excited stop!! My awesome friends knew I'm an oyster fiend and brought me here. It was love at first sight!! Piles and piles of shells all over! Everywhere!! Shells covered ground!! Mountains of big oyster shells! Traps!! And ran by two awesome gentlemen!! Once inside, you can see a ton of live shellfish!! Clams, mussels, different kinda of oysters!! My kind of wonderland! We walked away with few dozens live oysters, clams and mussels for around $50!!! Like get out!! Went home, shucked, cooked, sip and ate till we passed out! I love eating clams raw and these ones are extra sweet! Love the oysters too. My only complaint is that I can't make another weekend trip sooner to here!!

Everyone I meet there is always cordial, eager to help and educate when asked, and the food is always excellent in taste and freshness.

Companies such as Washington State Seafood located in Seabeck, WA over by the coast far away from the typical more populated cities in the Puget Sound have gotten creative with their selling methods. Off to the social media they went! In my case, I discovered them via an ad in Facebook. To facilitate distribution, WSS sets up different distribution "pick up" locations throughout the West Coast, primarily around state of WA, but recently extended to CA also. They also have mailing options too. The menus vary by date, pick up vs. mailing, depending on the availability and viable logistics. Thus far, I have had generic "shooters" oysters (that was the name on the website) and most recently had the Samish Pearls. I also placed an order for Purple Mountain shooters at a super duper deal of only $7.50 for a dozen! It's labeled as a 2 hour Bonus buy on the website. Score! The pickup process is very easy. Go to the location they identify (not always the same but somewhere in Seattle), give them your order number (name works too but they prefer the order number), they hand you the oysters in those stretchy mesh bags commonly used for seafood. You should bring a cooler or anything with an ice pack with you. At home, we use a shucking knife. Watch YouTube and learning to shuck to optimize your oyster eating experience. The most optimal way to shuck, we learned, is to wiggle the knife deep from one end to the next before lifting - preserving the briny water as much as possible! The taste - my oh my - it's SO FRESH! You're tasting the sea (in a good way) with every slurp of an oyster. Side note: We're simple when it comes to sauce, a squirt of fresh lemon juice and a squirt of tabasco sauce.

Amazing and fresh seafood !!! I love that I can pick them up direct from the farmer and in multiple…read morecities.

And in a move to save the jar I quickly moved my basket under the falling jar to catch it to stop it from breaking in the floor. Unfortunately, the quick motion of my basket caused a bottle of banana ketchup to be knocked off a lower shelf and break in the floor. Upon, checkout I was made to pay for the bottle that broke. Okay, I get it you're a small business and every penny counts, and I average over $100 of my grocery budget there every month. But from a customer service standpoint to make me pay for accidentally knocking a bottle to the floor? Sure you saved $2.69. But once again from a customer service pov, did you save $2.69 OR did you LOSE over $1200 a year in patronage, because I'm never coming back. There's other Asian groceries in the area that I can get all the same things I get at your store.
