The food was so delicious here! Each dish is well balanced, with strong Vietnamese flavors and a unique twist using local ingredients. Some of these dishes are more traditionally eaten with beef, so it was interesting to see how they've been adapted to what's local in Sweden. Like I've said before, I'm a bit of a Vietnamese cuisine snob, so I am never that easily impressed. After much persuasion from various people, I finally tried this Vietnamese-fusion restaurant, and was so glad that I did. The dishes were nicely portioned and was less than boring. Every dish was beautifully plated and the flavours all made sense - even if it was "fusion". They had great selections for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores. The customer service was excellent and the servers were knowledgeable. I appreciated that the server explained all the compositions of the dish as it hit our table. We had the Sticky rice with five types of mushrooms and the Cao Lau noodles with pork belly. I recommend booking a table in advance as the restaurant is fairly small and gets quite busy. read more

Great place for some healthy (hope so) and delicious Vietnamese dishes. Tried no. 20 - apparently the main dish of Vietnam, great choice after adding some Srirancha sauce and various green leaves. Ordered two starters which I cannot remember the names of but also very tasty and interesting spices (neither too strong or bleak - well balanced!) Had a delicious green cheesecake-look-alike-but-dont-taste-alike (which I can't remember the name of either -but took a picture to document it properly). Highly highly recommend the Gá chay xào mien, a plate chock full of strong flavours. I usually shy away from small glass noodles; but this dish came with fragrant herbs, unusual mushrooms, a dark spicy dipping sauce and huge depth for a veggie dish. The flavors weren't authentic. The food was very much westernized and I kinda saw that coming when I walked in and realized I was the only part asian person in there. My "vegan" dish was some type of vegan rice balls that the waiter highly recommended. They were so soggy and the sauce tasted almost fishy. This was super questionable for a so called vegan dish. I didn't finish my food because I was super disgusted by the texture and flavor of the rice balls. No waiter came to check on me but they did happen to check on the people sitting next to me a few times. I guess I wore my invisible cloak that night. I don't ever rate places based on service because when I go to a place to eat, my main focus is the food. Shitty service but amazing food? What a cute little vietnamese place in the Norrmalm area in Stockholm. Went alone for a quick lunch. They have very few daily Menu items and I chose "melt in your mouth" pork belly with sticky rice. I was pleasantly surprised by the meat rice ratio! A lot of nice pork belly. One of the staff approached me after my meal and asked me if I wanted more. I always want more good food so I said yes. She brought me another serving free of charge, explaining that they dont like to waste food and gladly give me another portion as long as I eat it and that they start with smaller portions. Found my way here on a cold, snowy night (perfect for some Vietnamese comfort food), and after discovering my first choice (Nystekt Stromming in Sodermalm) appeared to be closed for winter. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to find a warm, cozy and trendy ambience - was lucky to grab the last available table for the evening. Judging by the small size of the restaurant and the number of young Stockholm professionals I saw eating there, seems that the place has no problem filling up. I ordered the Pho Tron Vit with a bottle of the Modernist Brewery's "Szechuan Pepper Wit" beer - disappointingly, this beer didn't have much in the way of Szechuan pepper's famous numbing spice, but was more similar to a cider in its slightly sour flavor. But, it was my last night in Stockholm, and figured I'd try something unique from a local brewery. The entree was a bit of a surprise for me - having grown up in the U.S. and eaten at my fair share of Vietnamese restaurants, I was accustomed to thinking of a beef- or chicken-based soup with noodles whenever seeing the word "pho." This dish only had the flat, wide rice noodles ("banh pho"), and no broth. Instead, it was served with duck meat, a mango slaw, and a mixture of roasted shallots, red onions, and cilantro, with a peanut sauce on the side that could be added on top. Despite my initial skepticism, the different flavors of the dish complemented each other in a perfect blend, and I happily took my time eating in order to savor every bite. For dessert, due to the late hour the kitchen had already closed, so I wasn't able to try my first choice (a type of cheesecake if I remember correctly). Instead, I opted for the orange chia seed pudding - tasty enough, and a plus if you're vegan (I'm not, but the menu carries a lot of vegan options for both dinner and dessert). As I was grabbing my coat and preparing to venture out into the snow again, the owner approached me to ask how I liked the food (in English, guessing she heard me talking to the waitresses in English). She asked if I lived in Stockholm or was just visiting. When I told her the latter, I also told her (truthfully) that even living in San Francisco, this was better than a lot of the Vietnamese places back home. It's nice to see owners take a genuine interest in their customers' dining experiences. The one downside I will note here is the price - the entree came out to be around $22 USD, and with beer and the dessert, the entire meal was around $40 USD. Considerably more expensive than most Vietnamese places in the U.S., but if you can afford it, the food is well worth it. Also, restaurants in Stockholm tend to be more expensive than the U.S. in general, particularly the ones that are seen as more trendy. I happily will come back here if I have the chance to return to Stockholm. read more

This is one of the best Asian restaurants in Stockholm that we know off. A Vietnamese cuisine. It is quite popular and we recommend that you book well ahead going there. The starters are great. The Pho Bo - good taste but should have thin sliced beef not the thickly cut meat pieces. This venue has changed a lot and latest we were very disappointed. Fine Vietnamese dining that's not too hard on the wallet. My wife is Vietnamese and I go to Vietnam quite often which means I'm spoiled with great Vietnamese food. As such, I don't dole out recommendations for Vietnamese food lightly. Minh Mat, however, is one of the places in Stockholm I do recommend. The food at Minh Mat varies from authentic to more of a fusion style. Whatever the dish I've never been disappointed with anything I've gotten. High end Vietnamese, according to menu and interior. That does not really apply on the food. Went here for the Pho about a year ago when they were newly opened, but was disappointed by the tasteless broth. This time I ordered pork springrolls, shrimp cakes and a bowl of beef pho. Side dishes was small but quite tasteful. Pho has a good broth, home made and rich in flavor. Focusing on having a killer broth I think they forgot the rest. Noodles were way too over cooked and impossible to eat, and the brisket was just not that good. This place is popular and super crowded, I went there on a Tuesday and the poor waitresses were so stressed out they served me the wrong dishes several times. Despite the confusion, service is helpful and friendly. As the true Pho maniac I am, I will probably go back and try it for one more time. As they say, third time's a charm? read more
