Donuts seem to be always fresh - they have a lot of business so there apparently a lot of donut turnover. Staff friendly. Kind of a neighborhood institution. It been a while since I bought one but the only thing I do not buy are their ham croissants- not very much ham. The chocolate croissants are very good though. read more

All facts! Our fellow yelpers! told no lies. Ming's donuts are fresh and yummy. Last Saturday I had the audacity to roll-up at 11AM and hunny, Ming's was practically sold-out of everything. There was a small assortment of donuts left (like 5: a bear claw, sprinkles,...donuts like that). I returned this past Monday at 10AM and they had plenty. I grabbed a chocolate twist and it was so chocolatey. I was sold. I returned today before my workout to fuel up and get my life together. Please remember: Donuts are incredibly unhealthy. Came here this past Tuesday morning at 8am and they have a huge selection of donuts! I bought a assorted dozen for $12 total and the lady added a free donut! The donuts were extremely deliciousness and fresh! They weren't oily and the texture of the dough is really nice. I ate two that day because why not? The plain glaze was amazing and I tried the blueberry cake donut which was really nice. Had a light glaze to it and I bought the last two they had on the shelf. The customer service here is top-notch, always very warm, and friendly. The couple who run this shop are just the nicest people. And they still provide that service-with-a-smile and make you wanna keep coming back. But the donuts... Well, these are truly THEE best donuts!! Always fresh, light, and delicious. Nothing foo-foo shee-shee here, or any of those weird and crazy flavors and silly over the top "gourmet" decorations that are just too sugary to enjoy. Ming's are just simple, good, old-fashioned donuts made right. I love their French crullers. Where most other places just kinda taste old and hard, or the complete opposite, they are just super greasy and heavy. Not Ming's, their crullers are light, airy, pillows of scrumptiousness. And don't even get me started on their ham and cheese croissants. THE BEST!!! Hot or cold, they are delicious. I will even grab a couple to take home for lunch or brekkie the next day. Still good later (store them in a ziplock). And they have the best maple glaze. I would eat it on a shoe, but I prefer it on an old-fashion donut. =) So, if you're in the area, or you're in the mood for a drive (plus you can take your box of donuts to enjoy at the marina), or just want the best donuts ever, then come to Ming's. I was in San Leandro, so I decided to stop by Ming's Donuts to see what all the rage was about. I was greeted warmly when I walked-in and I took some time to survey the display case with the assortment of donuts and croissants. Everything looked so good, so choosing wasn't as easy as it seems. After giving this some serious thought, I opted for two ham and cheese croissants, a glaze twist, chocolate raised twist, chocolate old fashion and a blueberry donut, since I was buying for a couple of my employees. When I got to work, my two employees heated-up the ham and cheese croissants in the microwave and except for the fact they aren't filled too much, they were soft and pretty good. Needless to say, my employees made them disappear fairly quickly. The glaze twist and chocolate raised twist were fluffy, light and not overly sweet and they're good-sized. The blueberry donut was really good and now I wish I had bought more of those. The chocolate old fashioned was solid and the chocolate on top wasn't super sweet. I like that it's a mom and pop and the service was really good. I wasn't pressured at all and the lady who served me was very friendly. I've heard it can get really busy, but I got in and out quickly on a Saturday morning. read more

Ive been coming here for over 20 years and have never left less than satisfied. I like to get there as close to opening hours as I can (4:30 am) to get the freshest melt in your mouth finger licking good donuts I've ever had in my life. You can actually watch behind the scenes at the way they have perfected the art of donut making Thru the huge glass window into their kitchen. My family from Texas make it a point to come to this place whenever they're in town. My favorites are the chocolate twist, chocolate old fashioned, and custard filled chocolate bars but you can't really go wrong as they have all the different selections any standard donut shop would have. Did I mention they bake the ham and cheese into the actual croissant the way it's meant to be. You just can't beat quality mom n pop shops like these. It has been the same owners, (and their kids in the summer time) that continue to bring us these delicious treats with great hospitality and customer service. Unfortunately I didn't realize that they close at 1PM on weekends which meant that it was all sold out of blueberry by 11. So I ordered a glaze which was pretty good, denser and larger than a Krispy Kreme but lighter than most old fashion donuts so a good middle ground. So second time is a charm when we went back at 10 yesterday and bought 3 out of the remaining 5 blueberry donuts. My dad is a big blueberry fan and really enjoyed it. However, I am withholding where I got it from since he's not great on moderation and would probably eat half a dozen in one sitting. Great to know that I can pick up donuts closer by without having to go to Krispy Kreme but need to control myself before it becomes an addiction. So this has been my morning stop the last couple of weeks. Ming's is always clean and there is usually no waiting. Another plus is they always seem to have enough donuts, unlike so many other shops that seem to run out by nine or even earlier. I've been indulging in a morning ham and cheese croissant which they warm up really quick and by the time I get to work and open up the bag of goodness its still hot and delicious. I have also tried their cinnamon rolls which are decent, their donut holes which I actually find to be to big because I always end up with sugar all over. I actually think I still have a piece in my keyboard from the other morning but I'm not sure.
