The Amazing Milwaukee Race is a great way of meeting people and to learn about Milwaukee. It also brings more awareness to community activities, various restaurants, non profits and places you probably would never have visited otherwise and make a difference in the Milwaukee area (such as donating to the Historical Society to upkeep a memorial, building a prop for a local acting company, or spruce up a wall of a school by painting it). Per The Amazing Milwaukee Race's facebook: "Teams of two experience Milwaukee landmarks and businesses on an amazing urban adventure with clues: activities, puzzles, & checkpoints that challenge participants to get from start to finish. This was my first Glo Run. I was able to go as a Yelp! Elite and didn't know what quite to expect…read more This was my first ever 5K. I had been practicing walking for weeks. The pick up area was a mess. There were 10 different lines for bib pick up. And huge lines at each station. Then you had to go to a different place to pick up your shirt, glow sticks, and there were 5 other stations to get latex glow paint. They had a DJ playing music and beverages you could purchase. When it was dark we all crowded into the small start area. The race began around 7:30PM ish. I didn't know it was going to be an all terrain race. First we were on gravel, then grass, and then on very dark paths. Some had no lights at all. Runners were wiping out in the bushes as they tried to pass we walkers. It had also rained that day so there were puddles and mud. I think they could have done a better job at lighting the paths and some of the glow in the dark inflatables weren't inflated. There was only one water station along the way. All in all I had a fun time. I wish my fellow Yelpers and I would have arranged a meeting spot ahead of time. It didn't seem like a good course for runners though.

Do I still love Miller Park...ahem...American Family Field?…read more I do. In recent years, they've begun getting some big headliner concerts here (in addition to watching the beloved Brewers) which is a welcome addition to the Milwaukee entertainment lineup. They've also changed up the local eateries and I love that Ian's pizza is now an option. Whether it's the tailgate scene, the food, the beer, or the view of the field--life doesn't get much better than an afternoon at the ballpark. Get to it!

I usually go to one Brewers game a year. I took my nieces to a game here and we had a great time…read more Purchasing parking ahead of time made the parking extra breeze. I did almost forget to activate the pass once onsite. I took a picture of where we parked but then I forgot to note what entrance we came in. We eventually found our way out after talking to a few employees. We had seats in the 400 section and made a few stops along the way. We stopped at food booth where you grabbed your food and then rang yourself up which proved to be pretty efficient. My nieces enjoyed some dippin dots later in the game. With already going to my one game for this early in the season, there is a chance I'll get there for a 2nd one!

This is a nice race...even if you wimp out and only sign up for the 5k like me. :) All the races…read morehave good attendance but there's more hype around the quarter (its essentially a little less than doing a 10k) and the half marathon. I think it used to start later in the summer but they made the wise move of starting earlier in the June. Its a lot more pleasant to run when its 60 than when its 80 degrees out. With the quarter and half marathon: -you get to go on the Hoan bridge. -you get a "tech" material shirt. -you start right at 7 am vs 7:20. Why I didnt do the quarter marathon (other than I'm flabby and tired sometimes :): It's about $35 more for the quarter marathon and it starts at 7 am on a Saturday in summer. I dont know about you but it's really a gamble whether I'm getting my butt out of bed and showing up for these things on a weekend morning in summer. $30 is one thing - $65 is another. I registered late so it was $30 but you get goodies that make up for the cost including: -tshirt -medal -summerfest ticket -polish fest ticket -nice earbuds (you know you can always use more of these.) -free drink ticket -water, chocolate milk, banana, & snacks at finish. Couple things: - they ran out of large t-shirts by the time I got to pick up my stuff but medium is still pretty decent sized. -chocolate milk at the finish line=nothing I want in my GI tract after running hard in the summer. -I would suggest walking or biking down here if you live nearby at all. Many roads are closed in the morning and it just seemed a lot easier. Bike racks are next to the Summerfest Southgate and by the finish line

I heart Milwaukee and I heart this race!…read more It was my second time running this half marathon and I finished 20 minutes faster than last year! I signed up at the Shamrock Shuffle 8K Expo in Chicago and got a discount as well as the dirfit shirt from last year's marathon...score! The course was pretty much the same as last year with a challenging start up and down the Hoan bridge twice!...and that wicked incline up to the residential area after mile 6. What makes this race special are the great scenic views of Milwaukee's Hoan bridge, lovely quiet mansions, downhill stretch down towards the lakefront, past Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Energetic pacers will keep you in check in case the fun sights begin to distract you from a PR goal. Water/gatorade stations litter the course about every couple miles or so...the most I've seen in my history of running half marathons...all three of them! Entertainment along the way also took the form of a band rocking out the 80's music, a Chinese dragon, Mexican folk dancers, a saxophonist, a spectator dressed as Scooby Doo. Even the runners were part of the entertainment too. I saw one dressed as Elvis! Crossing that finish line with the Hoan bridge in view was an amazing feeling. The volunteers were so sincere in congratulating runners. I love love the chocolate milk you get at the end of the race. They actually have so much re-fueling snacks at the finish that I was running out of hands to carry it all! This race is definitely challenging but worth every minute of the blood, sweat, and tears. The free beer doesn't hurt either=)

I must say... There really doesn't seem to be a bad seat in this stadium. I've been on the third…read morefloor, sections 207 and 206 for basketball games. Both had (ok, not fantastic), but great bird's eye view of the game. I was ok with the view for the price I paid. Now, if I was here for a concert, I might not want to be up there. Second floor views are much better, but duh. The stairs going up and down are steep so be careful. I have tripped and rolled once. Not fun. Trust me. Be careful. The shop inside is also very nice, and open to public even when there isn't a game on.

You start by entering through a private entrance that leads directly into the club. After passing through security, you scan your ticket and receive a wristband that gives you access to both your seats and the club throughout the game. As soon as you enter the club, you'll notice an opening into the players' tunnel. If you grab your seat early, you may even catch a glimpse of the players and some of our All-Stars heading to the court. While you're waiting for the game to start, you can explore the five food stations inside the club. The food is absolutely amazing -- this is not typical arena food. You can help yourself to pizza, chicken tenders, hot dogs, crab rangoon, spring rolls, Brussels sprouts, and a variety of Asian dishes. If you're looking for something lighter, there are fresh salads, fruit, and a charcuterie board. And don't miss dessert! There's a dessert table plus soft-serve ice cream with plenty of toppings to choose from. There are also two full bars inside the club, and everything is included with your BMO Club tickets. The service truly takes the experience over the top. You're greeted with smiles everywhere you go, the food stations stay fully stocked, and staff are constantly walking around clearing tables, sweeping, and making sure everything stays spotless. They genuinely make you feel like they want you to have the best experience possible. After the game, the staff even lines up outside the club doors to thank you and say goodbye as you leave. And of course, the seats themselves are incredible. I sat in the fifth row from the court, and it was a completely different experience than any game I've attended before. Overall, it was an unforgettable night and an incredible way to experience a game.

I'm a bit to old to get in a caged ring with a bunch of youngsters chucking rotten tomatoes at each other. It does make for a good watch though and that we did. First this 2017 11th Eastside Annual Tomato Romp couldn't have dreamt up better weather. It was sunny and crisp out and so it began, the jaunt around to hit up 8 different pubs and enjoy a 5 oz. sample at each location. That's 40 oz of the goods! If you didn't walk away full or buzzed... well that's your problem. As expected some bloodies weren't nearly as good a s others and thus why they call it a contest. Still trying to figure out who won the damn event. Voting was as easy as 1, 2, 3 so that was a plus. All the places to try the juice were centrally located except Buddha Lounge which was a little further walk away. No matter I crowned one of favorite local spots Vintage as the Bloody Mary Champ. We'll see if it holds true. After that Vitucci's, Hooligan's and Landmark Lanes all had tasty bloodies, in that order. Fun event, good weather and lot's of people roaming around MKE make for a great day!

The Eastside Tomato Romp enters it's 7th year as an awesome fundraiser for the North Avenue BID…read more And it's a pretty cool one at that! For years my friends and I have been marking this September event date on our calendars when it's announced in early spring. And as with any annual event, it's great to see improvements made each year. The two largest draws are the Tomato Fight and the Bloody Mary Crawl. The Tomato Fight takes place at 4pm($10 entry fee goes to a local food pantry). A chain link cage (less the roof) is assembled in the parking lot between Farwell and Murray just north of North Avenue. The cage is filled with donated tomatoes and eagerly awaits the throngs of most costumed tomato fighters. Even spectators getting unwittingly pulled into the act when errant tomatoes fly past the 15 foot sidewalls. As fun as watching this spectacle is the many rookie fighters that are ill-prepared for life after the fight. Tomatoes are juicy, and therefore wet. And wet means cold, especially when the high temp this year barely crossed 64 degrees. But these gladiators of produce are unfazed. Some set out to the nearby sponsoring credit union that offers a "hose off" station. And some begin what is likely to be a very long walk home, no matter how close they live. New in 2012 and every since it the Tomato Plate Crawl. For $2-$8 for a tasting plate the 12 participating restaurants will regale your tastebuds with all things tomato. The other major draw is the Bloody Mary Tasting Crawl. Pay $20, get a wristband and scorecard, and embark on a self guided tour of some of the divey-est, hipster-esque, popular, and trendy places on and around North Ave. The participating bars must follow three rules: Use the sponsor vodka (SKYY in 2014), use the sponsor chaser beer (Milwaukee Brewing Company Outboard in 2014) and garnish with only a lemon and or lime wedge if at all. From the start there seem to be issues with the chaser beer and we estimate we received the official beer at about half of the 14 stops. But this was about the bloodies and they ranged from solid (Divino, embracing basil) to over-spiced (Rascals) to culinary (Hooligans cumin based bloody tasted like a great chili starter), to one dimensional and overdone (BBC- black pepper, Replay - teriyaki) to downright undrinkable (note to School Yard, please balance your overly infused with pickle juice bloody with a little tomato flavor next year). Yield Bar took home the double crown as the Choice of both the People and the Judges even though no one in our group would choose to order it again. Go figure. But the point was fun and the Tomato Romp packs that year after year. So mark your calendar early and get it on it.

NEW LOCATON 2018!!!…read more 5th and National to Virgina St Historic Walkers point neighborhood Edit:. This was the 4th year and last year was my first time attending the event. I liked the different neighborhood along with the variety of local businesses, ie Fuel cafe along with the local microbrew pubs and more. Better vibe and an identity. We'll see if the organizers/ sponsors keep this location. This year they also had a pin up contest which I missed. I would like to see more streets blocked off for motorcycle parking, they fell a bit short with that. I would love to see more vintage European and Japanese bikes. Better vibe this year, but still nothing like the Rockerbox before they eventually outgrew their space. For more details check out their website or look for them on social media.

This is a my second year at the Color Vibe 5K. Why the downgrade? The event needs to be better…read moreorganized. You have to pick up your race stuff the day before or you have to pay a fee. Very inconvenient if you work as they close by 6PM. Every walk I do there lets you park in the interior of Veteran's park. They must not have gotten a lot of parkers last time so they blocked off that parking. I didn't bring my purse with me because it's a race. Luckily I had my hubby with me. We had to park about a 15 minute walk each way for street parking (and we were there by 9). That on top of the 5 K means I walked over 4 miles. I was in the first heat but the pink color station was running out of pink color. That means all the peeps behind me didn't get any. It's an ok course. They need to announce beforehand where the runners should go as walkers were getting trampled. Walking on the uneven grass doesn't feel good on the ankles.
